Yeah, I just saw it on Steam and about spit soda all over my screen. A VISUAL NOVEL on freaking Steam. This is a big deal folks. Congratulations to Christine for being the first to "set foot on the moon" as it were.

I was a bit shocked myself, I wasn't sure if it was even Renpy till I looked at the data for it ( I did buy it, it's a damn Vis Novel on Steam!) I'll give a review of it when I get a few hours into it. Though from what I have seen, a big throw back to Digital.

Yup, very strong throw back to Digital.

I read Steam was looking specifically to add visual novels (!) and approached C. Love. Amazing, her hard work really paid off. I really hope this open the doors for a lot of commercial groups. I'd love to see WW, HG, SV, Z, or DC on there :)

It even popped up on metacritic! http://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/analogue-a-hate-story

Well, the chances to see my games on Steam are close to 0,000000000000001% :lol: But I'm sure that there will be more Renpy games on Steam in future.

Really? I always thought that Planet Stronghold or Loren RPG would be great on Steam (or even Bionic Heart).

To get on Steam you mainly need (beside a good game of course) press coverage. I *never* get decent press coverage for my games, so...
Maybe things will change once Loren is out (very soon) but I'm not having much hopes :lol:

lol, Jack, I share your pain. I never get decent coverage for my games outside from perhaps personal blogs. XD;;;

Well to be fair I get press coverage (Gamertell, IGN, etc) but not in the few "magic sites" that Steam considers: RPS, Kotaku, etc. Think that Analogue got like 3 articles on RPS and 1 on Kotaku, and is easy to see why was picked (again, I'm not questioning the game quality, just talking about the exposure).

It's kinda sad that if I think about it, all you need is to capture eyes of a few individuals to actually get famous.

It'll be interesting to see how this does. I'd heard of Digital, but have yet to play it. May check this one out. Hopefully if it does well, it will open up opportunities for EVNs and VNs in general. And Jack, keep at it!

Sigh, I loved TDIPB. Now I need money to get this ;w;
I should play Digital one of these days...

Her storytelling is the kind of storytelling I want to see in more visual novels (and of my own stuff), but at the same time, it's obvious from the ratings on metacritic and opinions in this thread that it's not for everyone...I'm happy it made it to steam though.

According to her twitter: Analogue sold 5000 copies on Steam (and 1300 on her website) already.

Dang, very nice numbers.

Making $60,000 on Visual Novels boggles the mind and makes me dream a little.

Just a little.

It's closer to $63,000 dollars but DAMN.

So someone in 4Chan did some math. In total, since the original 1300 in sales was actually $15 and 5000 on Steam is $10, she actually made a total of $69,500 IN THREE MONTHS.

Granted, after Steam's 30% cut she only keeps $54,000.

STILL. HOLY CRAP.

:shock: I now understand why all indie game devs want to be on Steam. Wow.

Also: there's a review on IGN for Analogue:
http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/05/12/ ... ory-review

I think it's safe to say C. Love made it big times. Crazy. I really hope this leads to more attention for more groups because I'd love to see this kind of publicity and sales number for some great indie teams here 8)
