Hakuoki: Demon of the Fleeting Blossom

Considering this came out on Valentines Day and it is one of the VERY few officially translated otome games for sale in America (Yo-Jin-Bo is the only other one I can think of that was not made as an OELVN), as well as one of... 3 or 4 visual novels for the PSP that I am aware of, I thought that this would already have a topic in this section.

Having just completed Corpse Party I am planning on getting this game next, either by buying PSN cards or getting the UMD, though I might lean toward getting the limited edition with the CD and art book. Apparently the game is getting rather good reception and is well met by a few female bloggers I follow on Tumblr.

Is anyone else looking forward to the game now that it is out? Or has anyone already played it?

I know there are a few differences in translation, the MC was apparently changed to be more assertive and to not have the intimate scenes like kissing sound like rape (the translator noted that the difference of the later is culture oriented only at that), but these seem to be well received as this makes her more relateable to the Western audience and... I for one don't mind the Japanese portrayal of sex and intimacy, but I know a lot of people find it very creepy.

I also find it amusing that the only other translated otome game I know of also happens in feudal Japan (albeit very different in every other way). Heh.

I for hope sincerely hope this game does well, and while it is most likely wishful thinking I hope it sells as well as Corpse Party did. I would love more console, and otome, visual novels to be brought over to the west.

I actually reserved a copy of the Limited Edition and picked it up two days ago. So far it's pretty good, I just have trouble figuring out who I want my character to end up with. XD

I hope that it sells well. It might mean more localized otome games... least I hope so.

gekiganwing posted a GREAT link in another topic I made with has a list of reviews Askys is collecting for the game: http://www.aksysgames.com/forums/topic/1603

So far, looks like it is getting decent to great response! NICE.

I have been wanting to play this game since seeing the anime a few years back, but PlayAsia has always been funky about whether or not it's in stock. I was so excited to see Aksys localized it and the limited edition was a great buy for about $40. I'm right there with ya otomegirl24, I don't know how far in I am, but most of the bars on my status screen are to the left. LOL I'm on my first playthrough and other than the fact that it seems to make giant leaps across time periods, I really like it. Hope it sells well.

I'm going after all the characters *Q* - one at a time anyways.
the story is pretty good but the CG's are my main motivation
i hope otome games do have a future on the western market

(although i cannot bring myself to continue to play corpse party QAQ)

Actually, there is already a topic, but it's located in Anime, Games, and Japan thread:

This makes me half happy, half pissed, because now I might have to buy a psp, and I don't have that kind of money.

I'll be buying the PSP mostly for this game (and I kinda wanna play Final Fantasy Tactics again, and I've learned they've got it for PSP. :) )
