Valkyrie Complex or RPG Gakuen maybe?
Otoboku is a pseudo-yuri game and Harukoi Otome is lolis... I would probably play Eroge over both of those, despite the um... very blatant title.

Anyway, I'm also interested in Tousui Kitan.
But I'm curious as to what they would do with the vertically aligned text?

Yeah, the title IS blatant, isn't it? I just hope the premise lives up to my expectations, and aside from the character designs that is the only reason I am interested in it. (The other two don't seem to be my cup of tea, yet anyway)
Valkyrie Complex looks interesting! That could be a nice translation.

HMN... that's a good question... They could try to change it to read vertically but that might be VERY difficult. Let me take a lo-
HIGURASHI REFERENCE SCREENSHOT. I LIKE IT ALREADY.
Well, I am an easy sell, aren't I? Honestly, the premise for that DOES sound interesting and I like the art. This could be nice to see!

A few weeks left in the contest. I'm going to take a few minutes to browse DLSite before I cast my vote.

Pseudo-related stuff I found on DLSite today: an Android and iOS app called "Almight." It includes two VNs translated into English. One is a love triangle story called "Maid Detectives Dille and Ellie," and the other is a mystery story called "Play Time." The page for these apps talks extensively about the former, and gives the latter a brief mention.

It's early June now, so that means about a month left until Anime Expo 2012. JAST and Mangagamer staff will be there, and they will almost certainly tell the public about the status of ongoing projects, as well as reveal new announcements.

So the winner was finally announced... the localized game will be Lonely Yuri.
Well, I don't play yuri games so I'm disappointed, but this is probably exciting for those who have been wanting more English yuri games. It doesn't seem to have any adult content. It also seems like a pretty simple story. :/ I'm a bit saddened but at least the art is cute.

- Yuri
- Not 18+
- Low-to-no Plot

Ahaha! Two out of three is close enough! I completely ignored this contest, and it looks like it paid off.

Speaking of MangaGamer, they announced at AX:
Harukoi Otome ~Greetings from the Maidens' Garden~
Boob Wars ~Big boobs vs. Flat Chests~
Otoboku - Maidens Are Falling for Me!
Sexy Demon Transformation
Orion Heart
Slave Witch April
SSSS: Super Secret Sexy Spy
And according to VNDB, all but two of then are nukige games. Excuse me while I go wish flaming death upon MG....

EDIT:
Oh, and JAST announced:
Cleavage
Jingai Makyou
Trample on Schatten!!
Wish they hadn't announced Ceavage, but those last two seem interesting though....

Supposedly nukige sells well and they do need to try and build up some profit to cover for the expensive story games which the hardcore fans like but don't buy enough copies of. It does them no good to only license games that sell only a handful and put themselves out of business.

Same reason I'm not making 100-hour epics. :)

Sheesh. MG chooses those 5 visual novels when those with actual quality (Killer Queen, Dies Ires, SubaHibi, etc) are ignored.

And they wonder why visual novels get such a bad reputation? I know nukiages are good for a quick buck, but at what cost? JAST's one license has probably a hundred times the story and depth that MG's 5 new licenses have. Considering the success JAST had with Demonbane and School Days, why can't MG at least try for visual novels with some quality? I know KnS didn't sell well, but it could have also been attributed to MG's terrible translation reputation in the past, KnS's bug that revealed a crucial plot point, lack of voices, lack of advertisement, lack of pre-orders, etc.

Ridiculous. I'll get Ef and then wait until MG remembers what an actual visual novel looks like.

I don't think MG are choosing games. They are just choosing companies they can make a contract or not.

Brilliant! Shoujo-Ai is a wonderful genre! I'm a slice of life junkie, so this looks promising. My only concern is that I have no idea how well the story is written. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be much info on this game on VNDB...

I guess I'll see if I end up shelling out

Not really checking the forums any more due to time constraints, so if you want to contact me, PM. I'll get a notification and log in.
Also, I've been hit and run posting, which means I don't see many replies. If you want to respond to something I've said, also feel free to PM me.

NOTE: if you've got questions about vnovel or things like that, it's Leon that you should be contacting. Leon's been pretty much handling everything, but due to various reasons, I've had to withdraw entirely.

Ehh, I still think MG could pick better companies...but it is what it is. Thing is, if this is what really sells...it is a darn shame. I can enjoy it from time to time, but I want to read a quality story too. All I wanted was just one good visual novel license from MG...1 out of 5 isn't that much to ask, right?

Decent pick I guess for the DLsite game (though I have to be honest...I voted for the horror visual novel and am more than a little disappointed it didn't win). Here's hoping for some kind of plot, or at least enjoyable short VN.

I also hope Dies Irae is translated into English. It's too damn awesome, but it's the most difficult game to be released in the international. The first reason is the difficulty of its writing. It's really high-level, even Japanese have trouble to read it thorough. The second reason is obvious... it contains Nazism.

About MG: Apparently their last couple story games have not sold well... I think they are trying to make up money by taking on these games OR the companies don't want to give them better games because SEX SELLS LOLS. 8|
Ah well.

The winning game for this looks cute. I like Yuri and it will be nice to see a not 18+ translated. I just hope the story isn't TOO simple...
