al|together 2008 Day 2: Crimsoness

#1 Post by ChocoEd »

Next in the al|together 2008 lineup is the award-winning Crimsoness (original title "灼熱姫") from the game-maker Porn. Yes, really.

The premise is one that you've probably seen so many time before: you have three minutes to finish your school exam and, failing that, destroy the world. Yes, really.

The graphics are amazing, in their own way. In the MS Paint old-school way, that is. Yes, really.

Only a Windows download is available this time, since it's using a custom game engine rather than ONScripter. Enjoy! You'll love it. Yes, really!

Note that the accompanying essays on the site can contain spoilers, so you may want to play it through before reading them. And please remember to use the SPOILER tag if you wish to discuss game strategies in the forum, too.

There's not really much to say (other than
SPLIT THE EARTH!!
), but holy crap, this is such a great game. I loved it so much.

And I did actually love the graphics. The flickering is such a great touch, and it really just oozes with style.

Also, you destroy the earth.

That was most epic 800 kilobytes I have ever downloaded. I haven't clicked that quickly on a mouse since I got addicted to Diablo 2 ages ago.

Well that was certainly different  The earth-splitting reminded me of the Megaton Punch game in Kirby Super Star, but this was much cooler. I can't help but wonder what the full text of the library girl's speech is. I tried to get there ASAP, but it still cut off before it was done :(

Am I bad for finding Moriyama-san totally hot?

The essay on the insani site was great. I bet Seung Park drove his humanities teachers crazy

I actually thought that too. That's why I messed up the first 10 times I played the game, I was too distracted by how cute she was...

I am of the opinion that it should have included more feminist RAGE. SPLIT THE EARTH! OMGWTFOTL!

There is an end to Iteko's monologue. And there's a way to conquer this game!
First, wait in the examination room until your Rage meter reaches 50. It will stop increasing after that. Next, hold the left mouse button on the rage meter. That's an auto-click, and it fills your meter significantly faster than just mashing the mouse yourself. Anyway, get out of the examination room afterward. This should increase your meter to about 60.

Next, go onto the rooftop. Beat up the guy. Your meter should now be up to around 75.

Now, go to the gym. Fight the crocodile by filling your meter to KILL. Your meter should now be 85.

This is where most people get stuck. Go to the artroom. Increase your meter up to HURT. If you go above that, you'll lose. Fight the statue. You'll win, and your meter, if you did everything above first, will now fill up to a ludicrous 255. You'll get the RED! meter, and you'll notice this as your meter's saturation goes completely red.

Now... waste time. Wait until the timer hits 0. As the hourglass descends upon you, fill your meter up to RED! and SMASH THROUGH TIME ITSELF!!! You've killed your time limit. Now go to the library and listen to Iteko's monologue. There will be a moment when she pauses for a while, replacing all her dialogue with a string of "......................................" Eventually, she'll realize that you've gone over the 3 minute time limit and will freak the hell out.

All that's left is to go to the field. I trust you know what to do here.

(I ended up playing this game again just for the sake of seeing Iteko's full monologue. XD I swear, that thing keeps going on for quite awhile. Probably has more words in it than the entire rest of the game put together.)

Hahahaha, this game rocks! It really makes you want to beat itself, and I warn you, do not play this unless you have time, even if it's a 3-minute game, you most likely won't make it through on your first try... And after that, the RAGE will force you to play it again. :D

We've replaced the torrent link with a direct download, since the game's so small and we're over the initial release bump. Have fun!

My gosh this game was excellently designed.

Anyways, who was the original creator of the term 'genuflect'? This isn't the same creator as OMGWTFOTL right?

Seung Park

You'd have to ask an etymologic historian that question.

But if you're asking who chose to translate 土下座 as "genuflect", that's me.

It isn't.
