al|together 2008 Day 4: Moonshine

Batting fourth for al|together 2008 is a tremendous cleanup hitter, "Moonshine" from the circle Sakura Mint (original title "月照～ツキノテラス～"), skillfully translated by AstCd2.

This is perhaps the centerpiece of the festival. Its production values are unusually high for a freeware novel game, including character voices and even custom-sung music. The story, too, is unique and engaging, and the game earned a "recommended" rating from NaGIsa.

I thought it would be something like:

...or something like that. But that's just me

The fourth batter in baseball is the cleanup batter. His role is vital considering that all of the fields bases could be loaded by the time he steps up to bat. To ensure that he and the three men on base get their runs, it is imperative that he score a homerun.

The fourth course in a six course meal is typically fish and/or pasta. The fifth course of a meal is the actual entree while the sixth is desert. The first three courses are usually an appetizer, a soup and a salad.

The baseball analogy is sound but the dinner analogy is flawed.

Very cute and well-done, although I thought it was a bit strange how the protagonist

just accepted he was falling in love with a "girl" soooo easily. I guess he's more open-minded than most 27-year-olds (I think he was about 27?)

Of course, dwelling on the point probably would have detracted from the story overall, so I guess it makes sense.

I'd say it's a good solid #4, whatever the significance of #4 is

I just finished playing this and oh, it was such a cute, touching game! The whole game had this very sweet atmosphere and was a relaxing VN experience. Also, great voiceacting and vocal pieces... Especially for a freeware game!

I'd say the pacing could have been a little better and I would have liked to see a little more of the game, but it works fine as it is and I recommend it to any person who is open-minded enough not to mind

Lovely I must say. But, to the characters:

I have to say I preferred True Remembrance and Crimsoness but still this was really really nice. And, crap, it's the Sentive syndrome, those guys rock! The theme song... Pretty. And that should go in capitals.

grrr... I would've loved moar though. Don't you hate that moment when you finish reading some of these? I'm getting the same sensation when I finish a book that had me glued for hours.
