As for used copies... since the disks aren't required for playing the games I'm surprised it isn't possible to find the game used. But I suppose that the ease of piracy made that the preferred route, with those that bought it being the people who actually cared about Hirameki making money.
If something happens to your machine, you'll need those discs to reinstall, so it's not that surprising that used copies are hard to find. (I suppose it's possible to make backups, but doing that and then selling your original copy just seems wrong.) Until relatively recently TRSI had new copies in stock (I bought mine in May), but it looks like that's no longer the case.

Maybe there are a few new copies still floating around somewhere...I have no clue.

Предупреждение : русскоязычная версия имеет возрастной рейтинг 15+ и не предназначена для людей с неуравновешенной психикой.
What the hell is that supposed to mean?

Russian version is 15+ only and not recommended with people with weak psychology conditions or someting like that...

Yes, but *why* is it not allowed for children with a "weak psychology"? The English version didn't seem very traumatizing to me, so I'm wondering what's different in the Russian one.

I don't think anyone needs to elaborate. The age rating is his personal suggestion (which also reflects what the Japanese rating board concluded), so whether or not others think this is warranted is irrelevant.

Hey, I just stumbled upon this forum. (Though a bit late).

I ran into the same problem as someone else here, where I went to go install Ever17 from the CD's and the file: end_tu00.e17 cannot be read/copied. Is there anyone out there that could help me out?

Thanks in advance.

I can understand the 15+ rating, kind of. This game has a pretty scary atmosphere. I played it once during midnight, with the creepy music on full blast. It's quite unsettling. If I were little, I'd definitely be afraid of Ever17.

Yeah but it's not like mystery and sci-fi genre aren't prohibited to minors.. I think it's more to the philosophical discussion and young-adult main characters than the general mood.

IIRC, one of C;H translator is still thirteen..

Ok, I'll admit it: the reason I disappeared was all my free time got sucked into this game. And since it's confession time, I must also say I'm a total Sora fanboy (technobabbling girls in traditional dresses, who can resist them?) although my favorite voice actress is You's. ("Kuranari....? O-ne-ga-i-chi?")
Keep your script in your Dropbox folder.
It allows you to share files with your team, keeps backups of previous versions, and is ridiculously easy to use.

I'm more of a Tsugumi fan.

Broody immortal girls trapped in teenage bodies, now that's my thing.

You's my second favorite though.

GOOD LORD.

I'm addicted to this thing. I mean, sciencewarrior is absolutely right. I've been missing in action because of this... The best? I got two bad endings in a row. Damn if I don't rock. j/k

Still, I'm loving it. Hope to see the other games of the series eventually translated.

I played Ever 17 all these winter holidays and I found it really facinating.
It's funny to see exactly why each "time" the characters were acting slightly different. It really blew my mind finding out who was really who..and who i was ACTUALLY playing as. (and pretty much all of the OH MY GOD HOLY CRAP IT ALL MAKES SENSE NOW moments)

Well since the company went out of business the game's price seems have to gone up and I was surprised to find it on amazon selling at the least for 85 used and 133 new at the most, was contemplating selling my copy since I finished the game a long time ago and it was brilliant, loved the special ending that brings everything into focus when you beat all the characters and coco's path. Well here's the link showing the price of the game on amazon.
