(Closed) Seeking team members!

#1 Post by AdamsAccount » Fri May 29, 2015 1:16 pm

Hi, I'm Adam creator of the multimedia company BraincakeProductions LLC, right now we are working on a project that needs a new team titled mermaids vs Zombies. Before I go any further you should know that we're a very indie company and that the majority of the budget has been spent on the art.

We cannot afford to pay you, however if you keep reading and it seems like something to peek your interest we hope you would wish to be apart regardless. Most of our games are sold for a very, very, low price around 1-5$. This like game like all our others will be sold under the name your own price option. So profit is usually not made, we're a start up company and plan to make most of our revenue through monetized webseries and short films. The game aspect is merely a labor of love.

We're looking to recruit anyone with services to offer to be apart of this project. Whether you be a musician, or a programmer. We are looking forward to working with you.

Right now we have the following stats note even if you are an artist, you still will not be paid. The main art is already completed for the game as can be seen here:

http://braincakeproductions.tumblr.com/ ... re-working

You would meerly be doing additional art.

Voice over actors are welcome to be apart of the project as well, but please note, we will be planning to hold an open casting call later on.

Artist 1/6
Writers 2/10
Programmers 2/8
Musicians 0/10
translators 3/17

Thank you. -Adam

Update: Some people have been asking about the plot of this game and why we wish to recruit so many different people.

Mermaids vs. Zombies has many different plots.

Mermaids vs zombie is planned to be a franchise with many different routes and customizations therefor needing many people, mainly writers. That's why we are looking allowing so many different slots, however that is merely the limit of people allowed in not the amount of people who will get the spot.

The main plot

Mermaids vs zombies has a multitude of plots. However the main plot seems to be the player's cousin princess bubbles was tired of famine destroying her kingdom so she begins to experiment with the dead trying to revive them. As a result, she ends up causing a oil like liquid that spreads across her kingdom causing multiple corpses to revive. But it also causes them to become infectious. So whenever a corpse eats a meal the other corpses are revived as well.

We are looking for a big team for multiple reasons: the main reason is the fact that this project is our first big game. It's our first game with complex plots and ideas and we feel its only appropriate to have multiple people's imput on that. Our last game's team consisted of exactly 5 people. But I've also worked with teams of 20 or higher within this industry. We are looking for many people because we feel it right for this project.

What kind of game is this?

Just wondering since you're looking for 17 programmers. XD

I accidentally sent the original response I had written as a PM. My mistake. Anyways, we are not actually looking for seventeen programmers we are just keeping that number open in case seventeen apply. However due to the confusion we have since changed the number. Thanks for the reply!

All threads in which someone is looking for people to join a team, from now on, are required to contain all of the following three pieces of information:

1) An overview of the project, or a link to an overview. Recruitment threads that are not created for a specific project but generally for a company or organization of sorts ("headhunting threads") will no longer be allowed in this forum.

2) A description of what sort of work needs to be done, for example "Need a character artist" or "Need a script writer". For commissions, we strongly suggest giving an estimate of how much of that work will be necessary. (Examples: "Four character sprites in 4-5 poses each" or "A dialogue script of approximately 60,000 words")

3) A description of what work has been completed on the project, if any.

Could you describe the project a bit further? There's quite a lot of slots for people- most mobile game companies can put out Unity games with only ~5 programmers. The entire plot/dialogue Final Fantasy VI was only written by a team of 4 writers.

If I understand correctly, you are recruiting artists, programmers, writers, AND musicians. Your intention is to not pay any of the people contributing, but this is still a commercial project. What is YOUR contribution? Perhaps I am misunderstanding, but it sounds to me like you are making money, no matter how little it might be, yet the bulk of the work is being done by other parties.

I thought I might also point out that your game's plot is very reminiscent of two particular episodes of Adventure Time. In the first episode, Princess Bubblegum performs an experiment meant to revive the dead, but they (the departed citizens of her kingdom) end up coming back as zombies instead. In the second episode, the zombie curse is shown to be infectious.
I am not trying to suggest that you scrap the idea or anything. Only noting that this is what immediately came to mind as I was reading the summary. I am just personally the type that likes to be informed if my ideas are a little too reminiscent of something else, so feel free to disregard!

it's a technically a commercial project however this game shall also be available for free. With the name your own price option on itch.io. Therefor technically making it a commercial project. If the game makes a profit, the people can expect to see their work rewarded, however if not, generally no payment shall be received. We have several people contributing as part of a team already. Not a big team mind you but a team. We're just looking for extra people who might want to be apart of this project. Half the game is actually already created. However its become it
so become so elaborate in its paths that we are looking for others to recruit.

I am sorry for offending you. It was really not my intention to hurt anyone's feelings with this thread. Also I've never watched adventure time, but from what I understand the only similarities are that a princess brings her dead back to life? That seems like a small coincidence to me.
