Edit: Found a BG artist, still accepting applications for CG art.
Hey there!
I'm looking for a second background artist for my game project, Skyfish. I'm planning to fund the game with a crowdfunding campaign that will take place this autumn or winter. Check out the (slightly outdated) project thread for more info about the game: http://lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/viewto ... 43&t=28683
It's a fantasy game with some steampunk elements, and what I have in mind is a somewhat painterly style for the backgrounds, but feel free to suggest other styles. There will be both nature and city backgrounds.
The script isn't finished, so I don't have a list of the backgrounds yet but there will be about 20 of them; possibly more if we reach stretch goals.
Payment:
I need a couple of backgrounds from our old demo redone before the kickstarter, and for these I can pay at least half of the amount before the kickstarter campaign, though depending on your rates, I may be able to pay the full price. The rest will be paid after the campaign, even if it's not successful.
The rest of the backgrounds will be commissioned and paid after the kickstarter if the campaign is successful. I'd appreciate a bulk discount since I'm commissioning a lot of work. We can also look at some other options, like profit sharing if I decide to make the game commercial.
The lower your rates, the better for me, but as a fellow artist I understand if you can't go too low. Just keep in mind that my budget is limited even if the crowdfunding campaign is a success.
Requirements:
-You need to be able to commit to the project and work at a steady pace. (For example one BG per week after we get the funding. Open to discussion.)
-The project will span over at least half a year; you need to be available.
-You need to communicate. At least one update a week.
-No previous experince with art for games required, but it's preferred.
-Communication on Skype is preferred
CG ARTIST:
I've been having wrist pains lately, which is why I'd like to have someone help out with the art. I can't afford to pay much before the kickstarter, but I need to know your rates so I can budget the crowdfunding goal accordingly. There will be a lot of CG art in the game, some of it drawn by me. I've asked a very talented artist friend to provide base sketches and base colours so that the style will be more consistent, but if you prefer a different approach, I'd be happy to discuss.
The requirements for this position are the same as for the BG artist position, plus you need to able to mimic my style to an extent (unless your style is cooler than mine; then we can discuss about our course of action). Semirealism is preferred over anime inspired styles.
I'll keep this thread open for a while (a couple of weeks or so) and consider anyone who applies, though if I find someone who's absolutely perfect for the job, I might close the thread sooner. Please contact me via PM or by replying in this thread, though I'm more likely to respond to PM's faster. Include samples of your work, your rates and a short description of previous completed projects (if you have any).
