Hi there!
My group is currently in the early stages of developing a story-based JRPG, and we would like to recruit a story writer interested in joining us. While the game’s main story points and characters have been decided, we would like to have an experienced writer provide fresh ideas, refine the plot and characters, and assist in script writing.
We plan to commercially sell this game and would offer you a share of the profits.
Here are some of our group’s goals:
1. To experience and learn more about video game development.
2. To take a unique and fresh approach to a common anime-style premise (which is listed below).
3. To work with people who share common interests in video games, anime, manga, etc.
4. To have a lot of fun.
Here are some details about the game:
We haven’t decided on a name (we simply refer to it as Project Companions).
Genre: Fantasy, Action, Drama, Romance
Gameplay: JRPG with turn-based fighting mechanics similar to Final Fantasy, Golden Sun, etc. Large emphasis on story with multiple routes planned.
Premise: There are special people who can summon spirits known as Companions and use magic.
Plot Summary: A group of military cadets made up of commoners and nobles try to put down a rebellion, all the while dealing with problems in their society and conflicts within the group.
Time Period: 1600s-1700s (technology include muskets, cannons, printing press, etc.).
Here are some details about the position itself:
Title: Co-script writer/scenario planner/story writer.
Description: You will help us develop and refine the game’s story and help write the game’s script. There really isn’t a specified number of lines you will have to write because we haven’t gotten that far into development yet. If you have other talents (art, programming, game design, music, etc.) we can have you do other stuff as well if you choose.
Here are some basic requirements for the position:
1. We ask that you provide us with a writing sample, preferably something dialogue heavy.
2. Work well with a team.
3. Ability to communicate via email and skype (including voice chats, doesn’t have to be video chats). Voice chats are very helpful in spreading ideas faster than typing messages.
4. Competent writing ability.
5. Someone who enjoys anime/manga/video games (not really a requirement, but would be nice to have).
6. Most importantly, this will be a difficult/long project, and we need someone who is committed for the long haul.
Feel free to post any questions if you are interested.
Thanks!
