I've developed a brand new fledgling game studio, name Terra Byte Studio. I'm writing a project that will go commercial. I'm hoping to draw in talent for the project, but first an amazing script has to completed. I'm okay with coming up with ideas, but struggle a bit when it comes to actually fleshing them out successfully. That's what I'm hoping to accomplish with this post.
Terra Byte Studios, being a new studio, will work on a rev-share, royalty-based system. Everyone who helps create the project is part of the rev-share. This way, games are 100% profit. Profit will be spilt between all people who make the games.
Check out the synopsis for the game so far. If you have a better writing style, and can add to the composition, I would greatly appreciate the help.
Thanks for reading.
Needed
A writer with a mature writing style, that can complement my inability to write in a mature way. Someone who has an interest in the story, and feels they could make it a hit. Right now, it's just about writing the best script we can, with no focus on the final product as a game. The writing has to be solid.
Finished
I've got the first two chapters written in the script file, and the overview ready for the 3rd. Find an overview for the story so far below.
Fallen Overview
Abel Hayes, a once successful accountant, is now a struggling alcoholic. On his way home from grocery shopping he got into a life altering accident, that changed him forever. On his way home from Simple Foods he swerved to avoid construction in the street and careened through a mother and baby carriage. Struggling with depression, and an onslaught of internal devastations, he slips away from his social life, and ever so slowly out of his sanity. His old life is gone forever.
Trying to forget his past we find him drinking whiskey in a bar. After a fight with one of the other patrons he’s tossed out into the street. While staggering through the alley he runs into another life altering situation that throws him into something much deeper than he’s ever known. As he regains his memory he finds out that what he thought he knew wasn’t really the truth at all.
His true past employer— a covert agency working in the transhumanist field— had planted a chip in his head, and a developed control software called NanoLinkz. Are his memories real, is he nothing more than an experiment? As his true history is revealed to him, he finds himself in a new existence, fighting to save one of the voices he hears in his head.
Correspondences
Headlights avoided during the accident, or lights of his final moments in hospital - lights of the operating table where his chip was implanted.
Abel died in the car accident.
Ideas
Late in the game transhumanists reveal his experiences were nothing more than a system test. His stress responders, sanity, durability, and adaptability were all tested to reveal the strength of his nanite neurons. The system couldn’t be deployed for its true purpose without rigorous knowledge of how it would perform.
Abel Hayes is an experimental machine, created from the remains of a dead man.
Two realities blend to create the story, as gameplay progresses. False memories surface, from the life of the man who was exhumed to create Abel, and Abel struggles with current situations in the world. In reality, he is a transhuman Frankenstein.
There are more transhuman creations. They are strong, and dangerous. Abel has no idea what they are when he first meets them. The transhumanists created robots to serve a purpose. They would become servants, military, assassins, spies, and agents. They interfaced them with a sentient computer, thinking the system could never be compromised.
A rogue government from the east-- harb muqaddasa -- uploaded a virus into the interface, hoping they could use the robots to their own means, but the virus was contained by BioNan. The virus, stronger than BioNan thought, started crippling the system from inside containment.
Abel is facing a quest to find out who he really is, and to stop the terrorist cell. He must get inside, find the anti-virus, and kill the worm.
Mechanics
The game will have RPG mechanics for fight scenes. The player may also find items along his travels that can be used in other locations in game. Screens may have clickable images during
combat that can count as moves during battles (Toss a brick, set of a explosion.)
Player will be able to go to various hunting grounds to find enemies suitable for certain levels. This will allow them to collect money, experience, and upgrades for Abel.
Abel will earn techniques, which will allow him to do attacks embedded in his system.
World map will populate with locations Abel can visit to progress the story.
Story Overview
Intro
Abel comes home from a long day’s work, and finds his wife home waiting for him. She wants to spend time with him, but he expresses that he is extremely tired. This is a false memory of the life of the man he once was
Chapter 1
Abel is sitting in a bar having a drink. He has a flashback of an accident that he believed ruined his life. He killed a mother and baby. Some ruffians walk in off the street for a drink. The drunk ruffian leader knocks over Abel’s drink starting a fight. Abel loses and gets tossed out of the bar into a trash heap.
On his way through the alley Abel runs into some homeless men standing by a garbage fire. When they see Abel something changes in them. Their eyes start glowing neon purple. They attack Abel. Abel wins the fight. One of the homeless men leaks oil from his mouth. Abel puts some on his finger, and knows what it is. He doesn’t understand that his scanning sensories are kicking in.
He sees more glowing eyes at the end of the alley. A voice in his head tells him to enter an abandoned building. Abel, haunted by voice, is led through the building. Every once in awhile the voice glitches, and reveals a man’s identity. Finally he starts seeing the kid.
Abel gets into fights with rats, that are affected by rogue nanites. Nanites are programmed with the same intelligence as the transhumans.
The kid leads him to a door that is electronically locked. The kid tells him to touch it. When abel touches the lock he interfaces with it. He can feel the machine, and understand its internal mechanisms.
The player must solve a lock puzzle. There is a single row of light shapes running along a wire. The player must click all the square shapes. After unlocking the door Abel is able to exit the front of the building. Abel is left with the knowledge of a man he must seek.
Chapter 2
Abel has a dream about his car accident. A doctor is trying to stabilize him. A nurse gives him a 4 ml shot of methylin. When awakened in the dream he asks what’s going on. The nurse tells him there’s been an accident. He has an in-dream flashback. Abel is driving home with groceries. Unknowing of the construction ahead he reaches down to switch the radio. He looks up to see bright headlights shining through his windshield. He swerves to miss the vehicle, but careens into a mother and her baby.
After waking up he finds another creature outside his home. After beating him to death a neighbor calls the police. In a hurry to find information on Dr. Bowen he goes to Net Beans Internet Cafe. After finding out Bown worked for BioNan, and created BioLinkz, a patron becomes alerted to who he is through a local news site.
A cop walks into the cafe for coffee, and arrests Abel when the patron alerts him of his identity.
Chapter 3
Abel wakes up in a holding cell, somewhere in the local prison. There’s nothing but a cot, the cell door, and some writing on the wall. When he reads the writing it says there’s a monster under the bed. Upon investigation the Abel will find a computer panel, and some other writing that says, couldn’t escape.
Abel can interface with the computer, as he did in the abandoned apartments. Upon interfacing there is another lock match game. Upon completion the cell door will open, allowing him to exit.
Upon exiting his cell Abel is confronted by the cop. After combat Abel is able to take his gun. Abel’s file is also on the desk. Abel can take the cop’s uniform, and dress like an officer. Making his way through the station he comes to the office. After causing some kind of distraction he’s able to link with the computer to change his criminal status on all systems. That should buy him some time. He can also look up Dr. Bowen and find his address.
Abel accepts an incoming emergency call to get himself out of the station.
