Hello artists!

We need 25-35 backgrounds painted for the Crown of Worlds visual novel project. We prefer non-abstract styles (sprites and CGs will be semi-realistic). Reference photos and detailed text descriptions will be available, but generally we need six main environments to be illustrated for the story.

1.) Modern day Earth, USA Great Lakes Region

• Qty: 3-5
• beaches, boats, trees, living room, etc.

2.) Fairytale Fantasy

• Qty: 5-7
• Forests, various pastoral and/or wild landscapes
• Castles, European architecture (baroque through 1920s)

3.) Urban Dystopia

• Qty: 5-7
• Wrecked buildings, survivalist, utilitarian
• Pristine desert, oasis, aqueduct, modern ruin

4.) Steampunk Fantasy

• Qty: 5-7
• Industry/Fantasy crossovers
• Must be comfortable with contrasting rich and poor areas: main avenues/back alleys. Skyscrapers/hovels.
• Geologic features / crystals / stalagmites

5.) Sci-fi Aquascape

• Qty: 5-7
• Futuristic architecture & scenery
• Underwater views
• Server banks, technology, etc.

6.) Mythic Fantasy

• Qty: 5-7
• High fantasy landscapes (floating islands, stylized colors, idyllic fields, etc. )
• Detailed skies (clouds, stars, moons, milky ways)
• Ancient architecture (Hellenistic, Moorish, Heian, Tang, Egyptian, etc).

To be considered, you must have a portfolio and the skillset to illustrate the features listed for each environment (1-6) you apply for. You must commit to the quantity and be able to complete an illustration within 4 weeks. People who apply for 2+ environments need prior experience with deadlines/commercial projects. You must also agree to keep our secrets!

If we’ve never worked together, we pay half upfront, half after seeing the line art. After that, we pay upfront in full for each illustration. PayPal is fine. Contracts and other payment terms may be considered for USA based artists.
