Hiring Line-Art Sprite Artist For Young Years

#1 Post by writinggg » Sun Mar 15, 2015 3:28 pm

Hi guys! I have finally found out how to put money in Paypal, so I have I can start commissioning people (although I am kinda broke  ). So I want to hire an artist for a game I came up with called Young Years. Here is the game description :

Game Plot + Goal : You play a 14-year-old who has been forced to move in with your Uncle James while your mom goes on a long "vacation". You have multiple goals to choose from that are determined by your character personality, ranging from becoming an entrepreneur to dating everybody in town!

Setting : The game takes place in a town called Dark Dust Dreams (or as the young kids call it, Triple D), originally name for the dust coming from it's coal mine (and the "dreams" part being added at the end to make it not seem like such a horrible place to live).

You can see more details on it's Lemma page :

Payment Rates... :

As I said, I don't have a lot of money, but I hope that since this is for non-colored sprites, that will soften the blow. I can up the prices around June, so if you can stick it out, we can haggle a bit. I plan on this game being fairly large RPG/Life Simulation, so I need someone who can get a lot of work done.

I can pay :

$8-$10 (coming with a default of everything and then 10 emotions) + :

$1 per hairstyle

$3 per pose (extra poses only change arms and legs)

$1 per 2 accessories

$2 per outfit

$1 per 4 emotions

I can also pay for $6 for five rough full body sketches.

Hey there! I'm interested in working with you. The amount you're willing to pay is a bit lower than what I usually ask for my work, but it's bearable and I'm need money, so I thought I'd apply.

I just happened to do some lineart work, so you can head over to my game dev blog to check it out:

There are only a few things with your prices that I'm not comfortable about.

-2$ per outfit is too little. For simple outfits 3$ sounds okay, but if you need something really complex, I'd like to be paid a bit more.
-I'm fine with 10$ per character if their outfit is not really complex. If it needs to be very detailed I'd like to be paid a bit more.
-If I need to do character designs too, that will cost a little extra. 2$ per character is less than half of what I usually ask for but since you're on a shoestring budget, it sounds fair to me. Character designs take a long time to do especially if I need to do any changes, and there's usually need for discussion about the designs, which also takes a considerable amount of time.

If you like my art and think you could afford these changes in the rates, I'd really like to work with you :) I'm working on my own VN but I can always make time for commissions since my summer holiday starts pretty soon. I accept payment through Paypal and my preferred contact methods are PM's and Skype. I check the forums every day.

Hello! I'm interested in this project. You can see my thread and examples here: http://lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/viewto ... 62&t=30454. I'm fine with those prices just for line art, provided there are a decent number of characters. Since it doesn't seem like a high fantasy game or anything I'm also assuming the designs will be fairly simple~ I'll also have a lot of free time come June. ^^

*raises hand because why not*
Obviously the prices on my commissions page don't count. But, meh.
I'm offering commissions!
