Colorist/Mimic Artist: Visual Novel/Raising Sim/RPG Hybrid
We have a game in progress with a main character artist and are looking for a second artist to join the project as either a colorist for the primary artist's linearts or as a mimic artist to take over some of the NPCs. The game's scope has expanded quite a bit and there's too much character art for a single person to do on our schedule for the demo, so we're looking to hire someone else to spread out the workload and make a better game!
The character art is solidly anime/manga style, and I have several of the concept art pictures in a composite attached to this thread [EDIT: samples removed as this thread is closed]. There are two roles I'm looking to hire for and will consider candidates for either ones, or even a single person for both.
Role 1 -- Colorist: our current artist is faster with black and whites than coloring, so if you were hired for this then I'd send you her linearts and then work with you to have them colored. I do like the coloring style our artist is already using, so please be sure your work would fit in.
Role 2 -- Mimic Artist: if you can draw in a similar style to the current character artist, then I'd be game to also hire you for drawing part of the extended cast. Right now the game has a handful of major characters with full expression sets, then a number of characters the PC meets around town and in quests and adventures that need to be drawn with fewer expressions. If you're hired for this role I'd start by commissioning you to draw some of the town NPCs, and if that goes well we'd figure out a division of the work for the rest of the game.
Game information:
Style: Anime/Fantasy
Genre: this game is a raising sim using a visual novel interface for character interactions (using Ren'Py as the base). The combat engine is JRPG inspired, using a CTB system like those in FF X and Trails in the Sky, along with a Grandia influence.
About the game: RPG/Visual Novel/Raising Sim. The main character is an orphan left to fend for herself at 14. She grows up throughout the course of the game, while doing lots of jobs around town. One month she’s a baker, the next month she’s a blacksmith, the next week she’s knight! Meanwhile she nurtures friendships/romances/rivals. The tone is relatively light, although there are darker paths she can go down. It’s up to the player what she becomes. This is a fresh take on the Princess Maker style games, bringing modern combat simulation, in depth social interactions (eg. Dragon Age), more jobs, and better endings.
If you think you'd be a good fit for either of these roles, please either post here or PM me to discuss details. Thanks!
~Alex
