What are you making?
A writer friend and I are making an interactive novel for possible commercial release depending on how everything goes. We are both experienced writers and are utilizing our skills and simply avoiding the issue of sprites and such art.
An Interactive Novel?
Dauntless is similar to a VN, but does not have sprites. It is literally an interactive novel that uses the NVL mode to display pages of text, but also has backgrounds, music, and sound effects. COC is a great example of the base concept (just ours is without the adult content
What's It About?
The story itself will follow the MC (named by the player) and their quest to survive a game of riddles and dangers while trying to keep as many companions alive as possible. The MC's plane crashes on an island with several other survivors struggles to define roles and cooperate to survive. They then find out they are within a game and must leave their tiny island and travel to the main one where the dozens of other groups are heading. In the very center of the large island is victory, but, only one team can actually obtain the reward held within; thus, the game pits each group against each other in a struggle for survival with intrigue and politics actually holding heavy sway in the story. The story will look at numerous issues and pit the MC against challenging puzzles and more importantly, challenging choices that will ask them to examine themselves, their beliefs and morality, their biases and desires.
Think about a game like Mass Effect or the Witcher 3 for the tone of some of the themes presented.
What Do You Need?
I need a programmer who can do some work on the main menu, options screen, gameplay screen, and statistics (maybe journal screen too). We aren't looking for overly complex or flashy GUIs, just something simple, clean, and functional. PM if you're interested and we can begin to figure out the business side of things.
Without further ado, a bid thee farewell,
