Looking for a sweet artist for Sierra Ops

#1 Post by Jason » Sat Oct 10, 2015 6:21 am

Hey there,

I'm Jason, creator of Sierra Ops: http://store.steampowered.com/app/364210/ .
Around early this year I looked for artists here at LSF but they are always occupied with more than 20 projects at a time (of course I'm exaggerating xD). So right now, I need a dedicated comrade artist who has nothing else to do until next year but to work on my game. This is a risky undertaking and we need people who trust the product we're making. Feel free to try the demo at Steam first to get the feel of the game. If you think it's fun and you're confident enough you could make Sierra Ops better with your artworks, please do apply.

In exchange of your time and dedication, you'll be getting an upfront payment from our publisher and also get % revenue share.

I will get in touch with all the applicants by November 4, as I'm managing something sweet at the moment to finance the team better. Please send your portfolio/samples to jason.m.cheng@gmail.com. Our character designs so far can be found here - http://innomenpro.com/sierra-ops/characters if you want to try to draw them in your art style. We might need to work redesigning some of them so they don't look bland etc.

As for the staff, I have a dedicated bff programmer, a very awesome writer, and a moody musician who's also our lore guy who has finished the soundtracks ahead of time https://soundcloud.com/colin-tremingway. There's also the UI guy who does magic behind the scenes and assisting us at anything we're lacking.

If you have any questions please reply to this thread. Cheers! :)

You can also try Game Dev Classifieds on reddit, as well as a post in the forums of Deviant Art. Usually volunteers are hard to find, but since you're offering paid work, you should have less trouble.

What kind of artist are you looking for? A sprite or a CG artist?

Then you'll definitely want to try Deviant Art, or even /r/visualnovels. That's usually where you'll find people experienced in CG art. I'm sure there are other places, but those are the two I know of.

Hi there, Jason! Sierra Ops looks awesome!

I'm really interested in working with you, I'm currently on 19 projects and this could be the last one I'd need to have my 20th!

Jokes aside, I'm getting everything ready to open comissions in a future, so if you're interested on my services, you couldn't have a better time!

Here you can see some samples of my work:

(As you can see, this is only a specific folder of my whole dA gallery [which may be more comfortable for you], feel free to check out the whole thing if you want to see more styles and different illustrations)

If you have any question, I'll keep a good look at this thread and PMs to answer ASAP!
Artist and voice actor, trying to actually write stuff.

Hello everyone,

Thank you for applying for the SWEET (Super Workaholic Elegant Enthusiastic Top-hatted) artist position!
(OK just kidding...)

@HiddenCreature, thank you for the advice. My experiences with dA artists aren't quite great, I wasn't aware of Reddit classified until you've mentioned it, but received a couple of job applications during the time so I thought I could wait until the submissions stop.

( We were expecting only a few applicants because of the genre of the game and the amount of work it may take, but we're quite bewildered with the interest. : O )

@truefaiterman, thanks a lot! lol you've got too many projects. We're the 20th?! That's fiiinnnee-just kidding.

We're really astonished with the artworks submitted especially the artists who took the time to check the game and even draw the characters in their own style. (to that one person who emailed us a drawing of Jean! *salutes* Thank you very much!)

To be honest personally I feel guilty with all the entries, because my team can't have a full art department yet even if I want to accommodate as many artists as I can. D;

After several deliberations, it was decided by the team a few days ago who the main artist will be, so we'll announce who it is soon in our next update. We had to act sooner because of the schedule set for next year; we aim to deliver the game around Q3 2016, and early access at Q1. Pressures pressures =_=;

Thanks again to everyone who've applied, and may we have another chance to work together in the future! :)

Disappointed. Couldn't work fast enough because of my tablet situation, and maybe I got a little too ambitious. Going to post what I was doing anyway, just so it exists somewhere.

Anyway I really like the look of the game, I'm actually looking forward to playing it when it's released. Good luck!
