Wow, it's been a full week since posting about my VN "Love, From Zazie" (DEMO). Everything is ready now:
- funds to pay for art assets (listed below).
- documents outlining the specific arts assets required.
- specific art references to demonstrate the style(s) I prefer.
I’ll wait perhaps a week or so for applicants’ replies.
Below are very brief summaries of the 3 artist roles and quantities of the art assets. To anyone who applies, I’ll send out further documents that outline all the specific requirements involved. The documents also include style references.
(!!!) Please let me know if this is against forum policies. I’d love to avoid copy/pasting the document contents in here because they are x1000s+ words long and the formatting will be an unreadable mess. Also, in regards to the art references, I pulled them from google images, many without details/links to the original artists… not sure if I’d get in trouble for sharing their work without knowing whom to credit…

*please don't ask why a grown man is playing The Sims hahaha... and let me know if I've used any of your mods. I downloaded so many while trying to build these references that I have no idea where any of them came from anymore.
Also note that these are only references, for the character's features etc. You don't have to conform to The Sims style (which I don't like anyway, because the characters are relatively rigid compared to drawn characters... and I find they can get too close to the uncanny-valley...).

I am particularly interested in artists who can produce work in this digital painting sort of style. If not, that's OK, I'm still very grateful that any of you show interest in working on my project
I don't mind black line and colour line finishes.I'm also very interested in artists who have a strong eye for proportions (limbs to body, features to face, etc etc), and feature ratios. I understand that these are subjective variables, but for reference I really do admire how the above artists consistently manage them.

In regards to the artist/s I select, I have a little list of preferences I’m looking for:
- For the sake of artistic consistency, I would really like to hire the same people for both the DEMO and the future full version. So, I’d love to have the same CG artist for both the DEMO and later the full version too. Same for the BG artist, and the sprite artist. Please let me know whether you might/might not be able to commit to around 5 – 10 times as much work around March/April 2017. No stress if not. I might just need to find someone who can match your style
- If you’d like to apply, please reply on this thread with a link to your relevant samples, including the best way for me to contact you. This will be the most convenient way for me to keep track of applicants. After we get in touch, I’ll send through the documents that give more specific details regarding the assets, including style samples.
- I’d prefer to pay through Paypal.
- And it would be great to break up payments, and pay as you send through completed work. Just an idea. I’m very flexible with this though, and very open to negotiation. Hopefully I can avoid transferring $$$x a lot upfront before any work is ready, though I totally understand that this feeling will go both ways.
- I would like to arrange rights to use the art assets for anything related to this VN game (I think at least including in-game-use, and external promotion, etc).
Please let me know if any of my preferences are unreasonable, and I’ll fix my tone ASAP
Also, please note that I am working on my VN game as an individual, not a studio/corporation (my only business is shooting wedding photos/videos). However, I do hope to profit from my game one day. Please let me know how these details may affect pricing.
