Hiring Background Artist (Currently Closed)

#1 Post by Suru » Tue Jan 17, 2017 9:17 pm

I am recruiting an artist for backgrounds for an ongoing project. It is in it's early stages and currently planning the assets for the project needed to complete a functional (and hopefully beautiful) demo. This will be a commercial project and you will be expected to sign a contract related to our agreed upon terms for pricing with the usual clauses and NDA agreements. There will be several backgrounds needed for this project and I'd prefer the background artist to remain the same throughout all backgrounds used.

Progress so far (for Demo):
Writing - 85%
Editing - 10%
Music - 0%
Programming - 55%
Sprite Artist - Just hired. 0%
Background Art - Working on it.
CG Artist - Will not be hired before a demo is released.

This project will have a variety of backgrounds by its end so someone that can make a bedroom or classroom but can also make outdoor scenes is requested. At current, at least to help get the demo up and running, I am hoping to get about 6 backgrounds (some of them with day/night/evening or morning changes, at least one of them with a seasonal change.) I may end up needing a few less as more of the demo length is defined but I would not hire someone for less than a minimum of 4. As I wish to invest in more of the artwork up front on this project I am hoping to come to an agreement for a consistent set of commission payments over a few months while getting pieces in this time. The details of which can be worked out with specific artists and how our needs line up.

I would request an artist that is willing to be open to future commitments as the project gets past the demo stage.

This is the artist that will be working on sprites: http://lightsilverstar.deviantart.com/
A compliment to her character work is what we're hoping for.

The backgrounds will have a Victorian feel so I am looking for a detail heavy set of backgrounds.

All details will be covered in a contract both parties sign however so both sides can be comfortable legally.

Please PM or reply and offer a sample of your work along with what you usually charge or what you would be willing to charge for an ongoing commission agreement.

Thank you.

UPDATE!

I am currently in discussion with an artist and have a small queue of others but I appreciate everyone's interest. I will re-open if for some reason discussions do not work out.
