Looking for a video editor for trailer and an artist

#1 Post by Aviala »

Hey all! I'm Salli "Aviala" Loikkanen, the founder of Lizard Hazard Games, a small Finnish indie studio.

Your Royal Gayness is a story-driven fairytale parody game where you play as Prince Amir who needs to rule his kingdom while his parents are away on a vacation. In fairytales, the prince often saves the princess and they get married and live happily ever after... but what if the prince is gay?

You can find more info on our lemma soft thread and our Kickstarter page.

We are currently looking to fill 2 freelance positions: an Artist and a Video editor who can make a professional looking trailer for us.

Artist:
We are looking for an artist who can do 5 illustrations for our beginning sequence. The artist needs to be able to match our style - the art doesn't need to look exactly the same, but similar enough not to stand out. Our style is a flat, children's books inspired style. If the illustrations turn out good, there may be more work available.
We're getting closer to our release, so these illustrations need to be done within a month or so.

Requirements:
-Fast
-Can mimic our art style
-Reliable - we don't have the time to work with someone who drops out or procrastinates

If you want to apply, please send me a PM here on Lemma Soft Forums or email me at lizardhazardgames (at) gmail.com (replace the at with @, I'm avoiding spam bots). Include your rates and samples of your work or a portfolio. If you have professional experience, you can mention that too, but it's not a requirement. I make my choice based on 3 things: Quality of work, affordability of rates and communication/reliability.

I need to find an artist fast so the application period will end in about a week or so (around 25th of September, I will confirm the exact date later on).

Video editor:

We are looking for a video editor who can create a professional looking trailer for us. We will provide the gameplay footage, text, images and music to be included in the trailer. We need someone who can make our story-heavy game look exciting through video editing. I have ideas for the trailer and how it could start etc, but there is a lot of creative freedom as well. We will work together to create a plan for the trailer. The trailer needs to be finished in about one and a half months.
Please take a look at our first trailer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v4IzlK3kXmw The new trailer needs to be better and more professional looking than our old trailer. If you believe you can do that, feel free to apply :)

Here are a couple of indie game trailers I like, for reference:

I understand that since our game is not as dynamic as some of these (no running around etc, mostly just text and images), our trailer won't probably be as cool (and most of them probably had big budgets too) but hopefully they can serve as inspiration and show you what kind of trailers I like!

Requirements:
-Previous experience in creating trailers or trailer-like videos
-Skilled video editor
-Reliable

For video editors, I don't have a set application period, but I will probably make my choice within a week or two from today (today is 18th of September).
