--------------------------------

Hello!

We're intending to add voice acting to our fully non-commercial Visual Novel project "Lake of Voices". All assets other than the script are complete and the script is progressing steadily.

There will be two sets of lines the payment covers; one for the demo and one for the entire game. The demo lines will be a proof of concept with a couple brief conversations voiced. The complete set of lines will either be a series of stock lines for partial voicing or the entire script will be voiced.

As we mentioned, the game has the general assets it needs to be made, but we'd really like to try aiming for full VA. Because of that we're planning on having a small Kickstarter solely to earn the funds to pay for total voicing of the game. We've run two Kickstarters in the past. Both projects exceeded their funding goal and have been released. But anything can happen, so please only go for a role if you're comfortable joining regardless of whether if it works out to have full or partial voicing.

If the Kickstarter is successful there may be a few little additional voice commissions. Special thank-you messages to backers and that sort of thing. The payment for that will be separate from the payment for the game lines.

We will no longer be accepting applications after Midnight (US Mountain Time) on December 14th.

Project Basics-
Title: Lake of Voices
Genre: Horror, Dark Fantasy, Tragedy, GxB/G Romance
Rating: T (for swearing from some characters)
Release Frame: June 2018

Job-
Payment: $200 or $45 (Kikka), $175 or $45 (Bemelle, Margret) $160 or $40, (The Guide, Lu)
Line Estimate: 1,000-1,300 lines divided somewhat unequally between the 5 characters or about 40-60 lines of stock voices for each character
Paid Through: Paypal
Age Requirement: 18+
Deadline for Demo Lines: Late December
Deadline for Complete Lines: Late April 2018

The payment for the demo set will be a partial payment taken from the full cost based on how many lines are done for the demo. For example, if you're paid $15 for your demo set, the payment listed above for the complete set of lines will become $15 lower.

Requirements-
Live Direction: Some amount of live direction is required. Either relatively short conversations to make sure everything is clear for the set and to do test lines or live direction for each line in the set
Quality: Clear recording on at least a decent mic is needed. No muffling, background noise, etc
Communication: Email, Discord, or Skype (for live direction only)
Emotion Level: High. LoV includes people being attacked and dying. You'll have to be willing to get pretty emotional with certain lines
Format: MP3, OGG, or WAV

About-
Lake of Voices is a free, dark fantasy, tragedy, horror Visual Novel being developed by GB Patch Games. It's a choice heavy game where death is simply inevitable. Not everyone is going to make it to the other side. It will be your actions that determine who does and who doesn't.

Kikka the Steadfast is a sensitive and empathetic woman who uses a mask of stoicism to protect herself from the harsh world she lives in. Much of everything she’s done has been an attempt to find some semblance of security, including the career path she chose to pursue. Kikka works as an official guard for one of the many tiny villages in the region. Her most recent assignment is to travel with fellow guard Bemelle to an allied town that’s been under siege by raiders.

With an ever-present sense of urgency, the two find themselves on the shore of Sinnlos, a cursed lake of black water that is home to the Nixi. They are twisted creatures who take joy in drowning humans. The two need the assistance of the nameless guide to even attempt to cross the maze of bridges spanning the dark waters. But they are not the only ones seeking passage that night. The guide agrees to lead them all, whilst also giving a warning that a group this large has no chance of making it across whole. Someone will be lost along the way. None of them volunteer to stay behind, regardless. And so the ill-fated journey over the lake of voices begins.

Kikka-
Kikka's voice is somewhat deep, though clearly still female. She usually has a serious and guarded tone. Kikka does what she can to keep as much emotion as possible bottled up inside and is quite successful at for the first part of the story. She becomes more emotional in her delivery as the game goes on. She comes across as someone who doesn't let anything get to her.

“We’ll wait for the guide to arrive before coming to a conclusion about any of this.” Mostly stoic, though firm. She's leaving no room for disagreement.

"This isn’t a decision we can make for her." Whispering, sympathetic, worried. Kikka doesn't want to force someone to do things their way, even if it seems like it might be for the best from their perspective.

“WHAT ARE YOU DOING?” Confused, desperate, and angry. It's also loud because the person is a ways away. Someone was supposed to catch up and they didn't come. They could die if they don't do anything.

Bemelle-
Bemelle's voice is deep and mature. He's the oldest character in the group. Bemelle has a boisterous and expressive way of speaking. He changes volume and tone often. There's never a way to misinterpret him or any falsities in his way of talking. If he's angry, he sounds scary. If he's happy, he puts people at ease. Etc. He comes across as honest and easy to read.

“How ludicrous. He’s faced far worse than a bit of foul language.” He was told he has an off-putting attitude. The first line is scoffing and dismissive. The second is still dismissive and also slightly amused at just how ridiculous he thinks the idea is.

"I only looked away for one second." A little out of breath, frustrated, regretful. He just had a very close call and could've been hurt or killed.

"It’s not right!" Raising his voice somewhat, getting worked up, in disbelief over how outrageous it is. He's talking about the monsters in the lake and the way they're so messed up.

Margret-
Margret's voice is light and generally high-pitched. She has a smug, frank, and haughty way of speaking. There's usually confidence and pride behind the things she says, at least at the start of the game. She gets more and more shaken up as the story goes on. She comes across somewhat as a know-it-all.

"I have already made arrangements with him to cross.” It's curt and a bit smug. She's interrupting someone's conversation to let them know she already has the right to cross.

“Are you actually alright?” A little out of breath, nosy, concerned. They just avoided something dangerous and she's worried they're downplaying it.

"I… I had no idea things like that were out here." Slow, quiet, a sense of horror and rising panic. She thought she was prepared to make this trip but she's realizing it's even worse than she had anticipated.

The Guide-
His voice isn't especially high or deep, it's in between. The Guide has a soft, tired, and flat tone of voice in most situations. He makes it seem as though just having to say words is hard work. Despite that, he doesn't mumble or trail off. He's clear and to the point when he does go to the trouble of explaining/answering questions. He comes across as emotionless.

“I don’t have a name.” He was asked to introduce himself. The tone is unaffected. Clear but not forceful.

"Leave him here." A bit more serious than usual. There's a hint of anger. He's telling the others to leave someone behind.

"We're not losing another lantern." Cold, serious, quiet, completely in his own head. He's planning on doing something reckless and ignoring everyone else around.

Lu-
His voice is somewhat high pitched, not at all serious or deep. Lu is the most immature character, in voice and personality. He's meek and indecisive and that almost always comes out in his voice. He tries to hide that with a humorous or sarcastic bent to his words but, like with most things, he's pretty non-committal to that. He gives the impression that he's kind of a pitiful person.

"Lu. Only two letters, so barely." He made weak attempt at a joke by saying he barely had a name. He's awkwardly trying to explain the point. The tone is nervous with false humor that becomes meeker as the line goes on.

"I can still try for the other shore. Go." Sad, serious, and he's doing his best to sound forceful despite being an overall meek guy. The last word is especially firm. He's trying to convince someone to split up instead of continuing to be held back by him.

"You think I'd be able to call a spade a spade already." He's attempting to sound lighthearted and unconcerned, but he seems like he wants to cry. He's talking about how he thinks he's useless and should give up.
