About the game
Dear Monster is a BL dating sim. BL means romantic relationships between men, so we’re seeking only tolerant and open-minded writers. All the characters are adult and look their age (around 20-30). The genre is fantasy comedy, so the tone of the game will be quite light-hearted, apart from some bad endings.
The game is about a human who’s invited to his grandfather’s mansion. It turns out that grandpa was a powerful wizard who traveled through many supernatural worlds and gathered interesting friends along the way. Some of those friends are now the mansion’s guardians.
The game’s features include: animated characters, skinship system (touching characters during dates), customizable protagonist (male and, later, female), building stats, multiple endings and mini-games.
About the position
We're looking for someone who:
- has a perfect command of English
- knows enough about the fantasy genre and races to be able to come up with many comedic situations
- excels in writing dialogue
- will be able to brainstorm, improve and expand our ideas
- will be willing to write intimate BL scenes (our game is not pornographic in nature, but the characters do fall in love and become intimate in some routes)
About payment
The rates are negotiable. We’re currently financing the game on Patreon, so how much we’ll be able to offer depends partly on our funding there. However, we do have a base emergency budget, so we guarantee payment for your work.
How to apply
Please write a sample dialogue between two or more of these races/beings: a dragon, Anubis, a unicorn, a nine-tailed fox, a crow, an orc. It doesn't have to be long, but it has to have comedic elements. Please avoid long descriptions as they will be virtually non-existent in the game. You can describe the situation at the beginning if necessary. You can send your sample either via a private message here or directly to our email.
