Hiring Concept Artists for Commercial Project (CLOSED)

Hello!

Last year our group successfully funded a visual novel called Our Life: Beginnings & Always through Kickstarter. We also hit stretch goals to create another game in the series, Our Life: Now & Forever. This new OL will be just as heartwarming, nostalgic, and wholesome as the first, but will have an autumn setting instead of summer like the original. We’re getting started on pre-production and need some help creating visual references for when this commercial project kicks off in full.

Payment Details:
-The payment amount will be set by the artist. Please let us know your rates!
-Payments will be sent through Paypal.
-Payments will be sent on a piece-by-piece schedule, rather than as one payment for a collection of pieces.

Position Details:
March 31st - April 10th Application Window.

We’re going to hire more than one artist in order to get a wide range of pieces. We’re planning on having black/white sketches, colored sketches, fully colored pieces, headshots, half bodies, and full bodies done, depending on which part of the process is being worked on. There will be design work, which will require creating different possibilities for the character’s appearance. And there will be reference work, which would be about creating visuals of the finalized designs that can be used as future reference whenever more art is needed of the character. The artist can mention what type of drawing they’d want to do, or it can be left to us to decide.

And because we’re hiring a bunch of people, we may not wait for the application window to close before reaching out to an artist. If an artist is hired before the window closes, that doesn’t mean those who apply later no longer have a chance. Every artist who reaches out during the application window will be considered for design and/or reference work.

There are two characters who need design/concept work; T (she/her) and Q (he/him and they/them). They both have basic appearance premises that need to be refined and fleshed-out. They’ll also be appearing at multiple different ages within the story (child, teenaged, adult). Different artists are likely to be given different ages to work on. Some artists might work on concept art for just one of the characters, some might do art pieces for both.

If an artist is hired we’ll generally ask to commission between 1 and 5 pieces. If the amount we ask for is too much, you’re totally welcome to offer doing fewer pieces.

The art commissioned will be non-public initially, but in the future it’ll be shown on our social media to followers of the project. We do require that artists keep the pieces they create private until we’re at a point where it’s safe to share them. Art pieces can have watermarks/signatures on them.

As for my rates:
- Human character design: Clothes and body type: 48$. Face and hairstyle: 43$. Full character design (Clothes + head pack): 75$. Any design includes 5 sketch suggestions, which can be mixed and/or corrected.
- Color palettes: 11$. Includes 3 color variations in flat colors, which can be mixed and corrected too.
-Weapon or accessory design: $45. (if it's a very simple weapon or accessory the price may lower down to 30$). Includes 5 suggestions, which can be mixed and corrected.

*If the client needs cheaper designs, we can negotiate less options for a lower price.

My turnaround time for a full character design with flat colors usually takes me 1-2 weeks.
