Spanish<->English translations.

#1 Post by KillerQueen » Sun Jan 25, 2015 1:50 am

Hello, everybody! My name is Montse. In order to fund some projects of my own I have decided to start offering my services as a translator.

Spanish <-> English (translation)

❤ Why hire a translator?
Though nowadays most Spanish speakers have a decent grasp of English, many still prefer to consume media in their own language - particularly things like VNs that require heavy reading. Even if Spanish isn't terribly complicated compared to other languages, small mistakes can (and often do) change the meaning of a sentence drastically.

For projects in Spanish, it goes without saying that having your VN translated into English expands your audience significantly.

❤ What I will/won’t do.
[*] Content-wise I like to think I’m rather hard to offend/squick but if you have any doubts, feel free to send me a small sample of the work to be translated. As for the text itself, I'll translate anything except poetry.
[*] Spanish translations will be as close as neutral Spanish ("Español neutro") as possible.
[*] I'm currently open for rush jobs.

❤ Credentials
[*] I’m a native Spanish speaker.
[*] I’m a Social Sciences student, meaning that I have spent the last four years writing and reading in both Spanish and English almost everyday.
[*] I have been studying English for around twelve years. Four years ago I got my Certificate of Advanced English from Cambridge, now I’m roughly at Proficiency level.

❤ Rates
$0.02usd per word
If you are in Mexico or have a paypal account in MXN for whatever reason, I also accept $.30MXN per word.
For rush jobs (works over 30,000 words with a deadline of under three weeks) - $0.04usd per word.

❤ Example
( Excerpt from The Things by Peter Watts )
This is what the world taught me: that adaptation is provocation. Adaptation is incitement to violence.

It feels almost obscene—an offense against Creation itself—to stay stuck in this skin. It's so ill-suited to its environment that it needs to be wrapped in multiple layers of fabric just to stay warm. There are a myriad ways I could optimize it: shorter limbs, better insulation, a lower surface:volume ratio. All these shapes I still have within me, and I dare not use any of them even to keep out the cold. I dare not adapt; in this place, I can only hide.

What kind of a world rejects communion?
