I’m AntiquedFae, an avid reader and long-time VN fan eager to find a project (or two or three) to work on!
I offer proofreading, editing and ideabouncing, all for free! I have worked mainly for OokamiKasumi and Googaboga on these forums, but I’m looking for some new projects to work on as I have a fair bit of free time. If you’d like a more detailed list of what I’ve done on different games, just let me know and I will be happy to oblige!
Since I work for free, I do come with a few stipulations.
First of all, a disclaimer: I’m not formally trained or educated for proofreading work. So while I will do my absolute best to make your script as sparklingly clean as possible, I am not a professional and will make mistakes from time to time. Secondly, I am happy to work on a project in as small or large of a capacity as you need me to, within my skills of course. Be it just a one-time ideabouncing session for a certain character trait you need help developing or a long-term support role on a larger project, I am here to help!
Third, since I proofread as a hobby I’m only looking to work on games that appeal to me personally.
To save us both time, here’s the stuff I’m likely to say ‘no’ to:
-Hyper or Forced Sexy stuff. Hentai, ecchi, fanservice etc. where main characters are just there as sex objects or do not consent are really not okay with me. Sexy with story is fine, as long as it's under safe circumstances. Especially into GxB human/cute monster relationships. ^///^; -Heavy, front and centre GxG or BxB. If purely same gender romance is the main component of your story that you want help with, I probably wouldn’t be the proofreader you’re looking for. I'd still be thrilled to work on other aspects of your game! And if it’s a lighter amount/type of content I typically have no trouble with it, especially when ideabouncing. Optional or side romances are okay, as are games with a protagonist gender choice! I do make exceptions to this so contact me!
-Due to medical reasons, I cannot play games which require fast reflexes, have flashing, flickering or static effects or have jumpscares. I am still happy to go over scripts though!
Now that the painful part is over with, onto-
Genres and features I especially like:
-Supernatural/Paranormal
-Fantasy
-History, from all different parts of the world
-Mystery. It’s an incredibly difficult genre to write, but if you do it right I will love you.
-Introverted, logical MCs. I really love stories from the perspective of MCs that observe and think.
-Friendship. Games with the option to befriend characters or get to know them in ways other than romantically is something I’m very interested in!
-Halloween. For lack of a better wording, everything and anything monster and spooky is totally my thing. If the paranormal point did not already display this…
-Nature, plants and gardening. I am a plant nerd.
-Crafting gameplay. Of pretty much any sort!
-Stat raising.
-Disabled, neurologically divergent, medically ill and/or characters with a generally unique or unusual perspective on the world are all of massive interest to me!
And the fine print sort of things:
-I reserve the right to choose not to work on any game, for any reason.
-I communicate via PM here on lemmasoft, discord if requested and/or via email.
-I am a native English speaker who is familiar with both American and British/Commonwealth English.
-I am fairly flexible in my proofreading format. We can figure out something that works for us both.
-I am generally very communicative and respond quickly, usually within a few hours.
-I am a very fast reader.
-These last two points being said, I have a pretty bad chronic health condition which can cause me to be unable to do much for some short periods. Usually I am feeling plenty well enough to proofread even when it hits, but if I get a really bad spell I might not be able to work for three days, max. Should this occur I will do my absolute best to let you know so you can proceed accordingly! I hope you understand!
-If I am not accepting new projects, I will edit the forum title to say 'closed'. If 'closed' isn't in the title, then that means I am OPEN! I am quite fussy about keeping that updated.
-My rate is the same for both commercial and free projects: all free! Of course, if you are able to and want to compensate me somehow, be it a trade, monetary payment or something else, let's say, bunny plushies or artisanal bread, I am beyond flattered and would be happy to discuss that with you. That's just an extra bonus gift in my eyes though: my services are free.
