Aphorism? It desperately needs more love. The problem is that scanlations are lagging but in Japan there are 7 volumes out already.

The thing is, it's high school survival with a big dash of comedy and a nice number of bishies and pretty girls - the art style is gorgeous, and since the mangaka seems to love Chinese styled clothes, many chapter titles have the characters in beautiful outfits! ....yes, I desperately try to attract potential fans, so what? ;_;

Aphorism is one of the few horror mangas I actually mustered the guts to read... XD But yeah, the translated releases are way too slow...... I almost forgot that it even existed D:

I strongly encourage you to read it someday...when they have scanlated more so you can go almost in one go xD (In my desperation I decided to buy from Singapore's Chuang Yi now via a friend.) Aphorism may be horror survival, but it has so much comedy that it is one of teh lighter horror manga I know. Nothing like Battle Royale or Gantz xDDD

I never heard about this manga but I agree that art is lovely :o . Thanks for the recommendation, I'm going to read it.

Uh, It's sad to know that the scanlations are very slow... :(

:/ I'm recommending a manhwa so don't throw your tomatoes to me. I find 'You're so Cool' a really awesome shoujo manhwa for a manhwa. I personally don't have high expectations on manhwa especially in shoujo section but this one is awesome! It was funny, and nice and funny and not bitchy. Well, its my opinion. But if you want a different approach from shoujo manhwas, you should try You're so Cool cause its simply different.

Another is Saiunkoku Monogatari. I just think this wasn't given enough attention(dunno in the english world cause I'm reading it in Asuka not online). I love the anime even with that stupid ending. And I really think it deserves more attention drive. lol

btw, Ousama Game is a horror psychological manga bout a class which one day students received a mail from this mysterious king and if they don't follow his orders, they'll be hanged. Something to that effect. I personally don't read seinen even more HORROR and PSYCHOLOGICAL but this one really hooked me up. I dunno if its been translated or localized again, cause I'm buying the tankobon volumes. There is also a novel of this but I dunno if they've been translated again :<

Oh that's one of my favorite manhwas! The art is beautiful *A*
Is it just me or are all of the shoujo manhwa heroines tomboys??? >3>

It's not just you, i rarely saw the feminine leads. those kinds are usually the bitchy antagonists.

But then again, the antagonists aren't really "feminine" in their schemes, just plain nasty D:
I don't understand why so many of the heroines have to be such gluttons though. Or "ugly". :|

Lol, I don't really think the heroines are ugly. :/ They just view her like that, art-wise(less the author has ugly art after all), they don't look bad at all. :) The antagonists, yeah, they just appear to be feminine nice and gentle lady blahblahblah but underneath they are just plain evil

I shall put in my two cents.

Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei: A riot-and-a-half! It's a rather surreal comedy, with very nice, clean art and interesting characters. It's pretty popular, so you may have heard of it. It has a beautifully animated TV series adaption, which I suggest you check out as well.

Kyuukyoku Chojin R: I love this series so much, for no particular reason. I find it cute and very funny. It was made in the mid-80's, so it might be a bit dated, I guess. It's a generally enjoyable manga, easy to read when you feel like killing time or whatever.

Ranma 1/2: This is a classic, of course. I shouldn't have to say too much besides: If you haven't read it already, please, pick up a volume and do so immediately!

Well, I like comedies the most.

Me too x3 ---and I rarely read dramatic mangas.lol

Ok, here's some more:

Hanakimi<~~ bought the first volume(special edition one.lol) after seeing the new re-make in Fuji Television. About a girl who acted as a boy and enter an all boys school to see her crush/idol who is very good in high jumping. Okay, an oot one: I like the first drama casts of japan better than this I don't hate that AKB48 girl but I still love the first cast especially toma and oguri. A~nd there's also going to be a korean drama named "Beautiful You" based on hanakimi too with sano being.... lee min ho ="= I don't hate lee min ho but there are better guys around for this role. IT just don't fit him. :P

hetalia<~~ Yeah, its more known for the anime but its manga is really funny too. <3 Nothing much to say here but you should take the liberty to read this before you turn 100! lol.jk,jk Yeah, for all ages. :P

I've recently started to read Bakuman, and I must admit that it's really good.
It's quite new series, made by makers of famoust "Death Note". It's a story of two, 14 years old guys, whom dream is to become a proper manga artist. Funny thing is, that they talk a lot about manga, and very often about "Death Note" and themselves, like for example "We will never be as good as Ohba and Obata", which means, authors are writing about themselves, as they are really good in making manga :)

And second series which I will gladly recommend is Claymore. In fantasy world, there are Yoma, deamons which eat human flesh and might be simply called as devilish monsters. There is also organisation called "Claymore" which, sends they knights, which people also call "Claymore", to kill the deamons. Claymore's are female warriors, half human-half yoma, thanks to this, they have supernatural strenght, speed and agility. It's main concept is similar to this from the book "Witcher" by Andrzej Sapkowski. There is plenty of fighting, blood and guts in there, but really enjoyable to read :)

Can I add another!? x3

Just read Kaze Hikaru! It was really awesome! For people who loved Hakuouki, gender bending, shinsengumi and okita souji! Get your copy of this awesome manga! Written by Taeko Watanabe-sensei since 2000 up to present with 30 volumes-ongoing, you'd never regret reading this awesome shoujo manga! >.<It is possible that Hakuouki could be based on this! Too many similarities for a coincidence!

Hayate X Blade (read: Hayate Cross Blade). I think this one is a shonen manga, though all the characters are all girls (since the setting is an all-girl high school anyway). In this manga, it's all about action... a sword-fighting action to be exact. In this school, you could be a sword-bearer, someone who fight alongside with a partner, fighting against another pair in randomly-initiated time (marked by a giant bell ringing).

The main character is an idiot and a pervert (in this manga, it's a lethal combination). But she's also a very capable swordsman. What makes this manga unique is the (plenty) dose of good humor and sword-swinging action. Too bad it's not really popular (like how it still doesn't have any anime and not many people talk about this one in other (or any) forums).

Interesting to be noted that each chapter title have a word "idiot" in them. Here's some examples:
- "Idiocy Cannot Be Cured No Matter How Many Times You Try"
- "The Idiot Latecomer"
- "Companions in Idiocy"
- "Sins and Idiots"
- "Idiots Move Three Steps Forward and Two Steps Back"

Note: some of the jokes are perverted and sadistic (like how Hayate is a perverted and always sexually "assault" her partner and how her partner in return always beat Hayate to a bloody pulp).
