Zero's Familiair

#1 Post by PyTom »

Is anyone watching Zero's Familiar? (Zero no Tsukaima?) I'm really enjoying this current anime show. It's not world-changingly good like Haruhi, but it's a well done show.

Basically, the plot centers around Louise, a mage who has yet to be able to manifest any coherent magical power, and Saito, a random loser guy. Saito is summoned from Earth to Harry-Potter-Land, where he is bound to be Louise's familar. (Most people have various magical creatures as their familiars.)

I'm actually really enjoying this show, so I was wondering if anyone else was watching it.

A school for mages, where many of the main characters are mages. So yes, Harry-Potter-land.

Of course, this show is beginning to break that mold by making a muggle, umm... commoner, um... normal human a central character. And episode 6 showed signs of awesomeness by:
Making the "Staff of Destruction" a M72 LAW anti-tank rocket. Golem-go-boom!
Oh, and the show is by the people who did Shakugan no Shana, another very good series.

I've watched the first five episodes and so far it's been very entertaining. I love Kirche <3

Yup I've been following it ^_^

Its good, light fun. Saito makes a fair protagonist - not the oh so un-sympathetic typical harem lead (who is either a loser or a letch) - not that he isn't a bit of either. [See his idea for a 'performance' in Episode 5.]

I get the idea though that they're leaving out a lot of exposition - inevitable in novel to anime transfers, but it seems more noticeable than in Shana. Also it seems a tad... disjointed? Maybe the "magical wipeleft" transition between scenes just makes it seem that way...

But all in all, a fun show. I like watching it back to back with Utawarerumono just for the sake of the extemes of blood/bloodlessness :P

I'm watching this one :D

It's funny and well animated, but I think it still lacks something...
There are no real surprises (I even knew who was the mysterious thief in episode 6 before it aired), but the world that is being described is quite interesting.

So I think I'll continue to watch a little while...

Oh yeah, the transitions remind me of star wars XD
