Starting Anime Club*

#1 Post by dramspringfeald »

Hey guys I'm trying to find some good g-pg 13 Anime to show at the local Library. Any ideas?
I'm starting with Lucky star and Outlaw star but beyond that my collection is to... racy beyond that.

Also I've fallen behind on the new series an such do to not having "real internet" for 2 years. :/

Azumanga Daioh might me a good start although it's slice of life and its humor may not be to everyone's taste. It's fairly PG.

Hm... Ruroni Kenshin (some blood, they use swords, after all), Blue Exorcist (is a bit violent/bloody), and Bobobo (uh... comic violence) come to mind. Naruto and One Piece are pretty popular (I'm not much of a fan myself). Bleach pretty good, but it's on "Adult Swim" on Cartoon Network.
(All projects currently on a hiatus of sorts. I blame life.)

Not really checking the forums any more due to time constraints, so if you want to contact me, PM. I'll get a notification and log in.
Also, I've been hit and run posting, which means I don't see many replies. If you want to respond to something I've said, also feel free to PM me.

NOTE: if you've got questions about vnovel or things like that, it's Leon that you should be contacting. Leon's been pretty much handling everything, but due to various reasons, I've had to withdraw entirely.

PG-13? Not all-ages? If you don't mind a kiddie anime, I think Ojamajo Doremi series would be a good anime since it's simple, have good quality animation (and everything else overall) and have a really good theme (friendship, raising baby, keeping promises, etc).

Does it have to be in English or are subtitles ok?
Kaleido Star is fun :D
Hunter x Hunter is great, with lots of action and an interesting storyline.
I think Flame of Recca is PG?
Fafner for mech freaks.
And K-On! for moe lovers :)))

Cowboy Bebop! :D
I loved Big O when it was on Adult Swim.
Beck is pretty cool, and so is Peace Maker.

The original Dragon Ball is good too. The original, not the X, or GT. >0<

Here's a list of stuff I enjoyed and/or found my anime club really liked. This is also stuff I would feel comfortable showing my parents, so I think it would be suitable for a library showing of high schoolers. If in doubt, ask the librarian to check it out, first. Who knows? You might make a new fan in the process!

Action Stuff:
-Rurouni Kenshin
-Soul Eater
-Darker than Black
-Birdy the Mighty Decode

Stuff with Mech:
-Code Geass
-Eureka 7
-RahXephon

Shoujo/Josei:
-Ouran Highschool Host Club
-Princess Jellyfish
-Chihayafuru

Comedy:
-School Rumble
-My Bride is a Mermaid
-Hayate the Combat Butler

Serious Business:
-Death Note
-Chevalier
-Fullmetal Alchemist

Aherm, biased former anime addict:
(*Warning: prolly old animes. I gave up new animes lately, thanks to all the ecchi)

Prince of tennis
Code Geass
Eureka 7
Deadman Wonderland(It's not old, but I love it :3 from eureka 7's author...okay, so the manga was rated matured for blood/violence, but you won't regret watching this :33)
Toradora (two thumbs up 8) )

Code Geass is OK I think (the quality is awesome) but I don't about Deadman Wonderland... Eureka Seven is also another good mecha anime. All Gundam series is also good if you like mecha anime. And don't forget Guren Lagan.

Thanks guys. It is an all ages anime club we are just limited up to pg-13. (even if our youngest member is 17)

were hoping to draw attention to the club with more modern anime but I haven't been in the loop for a few years. lol we hope to get at least a few more people to the club. (3 isn't cutting it)

but thanks this will be a big help. :3

Excel Saga is always good for a laugh, though it does have some blood and dear god if you have a PG-13 limit do NOT show the last episode! It's not needed anyways for storyline xD
Ergo Proxy is a good one for discussion. Same with Serial Experiments Lain, but that one is a real judgment call since there is one scene which may be questionable.
Chikyu Shojo Arjuna is also very good one.

It's pretty sad. Most of my favorite anime is very much rated R. Other things I would suggest are too childish like Kodomo no Omocha. I should get back into the loop, myself. I haven't seen anything new since B Gata H Kei which is *cough* completely inappropriate for the library.
