Best Anime Ever Watched?

#1 Post by silenteve »

Just wondering what Anime you guys would consider to be "some of the best."

I don't know why but I really, really love Big O. I love the aesthetic of it and the "noir" feel to be very pleasing. The entire series was so trippy and strange that I barely understood the entire anime but after watching the entire series a few more times, I think I'm almost there.
Other than that, I loved :

Eureka Seven (Awesome, awesome animation, but I still like the manga better :p)
Arakawa Under the Bridge (Only comedy anime that actually made me laugh almost every episode.)
Cowboy Bebop(Do I have to explain this? Pure greatness.)
Beck (The only anime I think that was better dubbed than subbed)
Hunter x Hunter (I can't explain why I love this thing so much but I do.)
K-ON! (MADE ME CRY SO MUCH AT THE END OF EACH SEASON)
Mahou Shoujo Madoka Majika (I was actually afraid of this show, even with all the pink and the moe)
Samurai Champloo(I rewatched this 5 times, and I almost never rewatch anything)
S-Cry-Ed (I never get bored of watching, no matter what.)
Tenjou Tenge (No real plot whatsoever BUT! They've got the best fight scenes on the face of anime, and it's one of the few anime that's better than the manga in my book)
The Girl Who Leapt Through Time (The best anime movie I've ever watched.)

There is NO way to make me pick one. Everything is so completely different that it's practically impossible to just pick one.

Gintama - I love the mix between comedy, action, and fourth wall breaking.
BACCANO - I loved this series much more than I did DRRR. The setting, atmosphere and action was just awesome~
Hunter x Hunter - I loved the manga and the old series, but the new anime just makes me go ick.
Ghost Hunt
Lovely Complex
Skip Beat
Black Lagoon
DOGS
Azumanga Daioh

Those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head.
Not to trample on anyone, but I didn't like K-on much. I watched all of the episodes, but it was just so....boring .__. Also I couldn't tell half the characters apart a lot of the time.

In terms of TV series, there's many which I do enjoy a lot (Lupin III, Zeta Gundam, Zetsubou Sensei), but I wouldn't necessarily call them the best anime I've seen. I don't know what the best anime I've seen is, but the one that hit me the most emotionally is Bokurano.

In terms of film, I'm giving all the awards to Spirited Away, it's a genuine work of art. Paprika is also very highly up there.

I forgot to add Getbackers, Saiyuki, and Kino's Journey :p
Kino's Journey was so fantastic! It was so trippy around every corner and the themes of each episode were fascinating :)

Angel Beats and ARIA for me. I like most of Maeda Jun's works but Angel beats is definitely my favourite. The only downside was that there was no way to fit the story in only 13 episodes. ARIA, well, it speaks for itself. Also I think the soundtracks are great.

Being someone who graduated from anime world(watching only a few lately), well....

-Prince of Tennis. Er, I never play tennis but I love it. There was a time where I thought I should start playing tennis but aside that, despite the fact that there were many casts, I really liked the fact that the creator managed to make them all shine(sometimes even better than Echizen(main protagonist)). Though I prefer the manga better for art and portableness(can bring it whenever wherever). I love this very much :)
-Saiunkoku Monogatari. I've watched both season and both endings made me bawl. TT_TT Well, can't explain much but I do love this.
-Eureka Seven
-Skip Beat. Sure the ending was wtf, but I still love it... though I love the manga better
-Junjou Romantica(BL anime). EPIC just really epic and funny. :3
-Sekaiichi Hatsukoi(BL anime)
-Hetalia
-D.Gray Man. I like the manga better but still love it
-Lovely complex
-Fushigi Yuugi. Okay let's admit it, I hate Miaka and Tamahome. I hate almost everything in this whole anime but still I loved it, and it had grown in my heart. Let's just say that my feelings for this anime is like "The more you hate the more you love"?

Lots of the one I like have already been mentioned so...

Whisper of the Heart. The one Ghibli I can totally relate to.
Mushishi. A masterpiece of tranquility and serenity and probably the only environmentalist anime without environmentalist message.
Nana. Slice-of-life-anime done REALLY REALLY WELL.
Haibane Renmei. Beautiful, beautiful religious metaphor, never becomes preachy even once.
His and Her Circumstances. Only high school romance anime worth watching.
Kemonozume. In-your-face work of art; an anime you CANNOT remain indifferent to.
Denno Coil. It's a kid's comedy show! No, it's a cyberpunk drama! No, it's a psychological horror series! No, it's Pokémon 2050! No, it's a political message about the impact of internet on children!

I think Legend of the Galactic Heroes is the most epic anime ever conceived.
