Oh man, this is just so hard, but easely this is my top 3

* Neon Genesis Evangelion (Great use of the philosophy, this thing got me in a high-like state for months.)
*FullMetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (Exelent artistic work, well made characters and awesome story)
*Gintama ( Nothing to say, Hail King of Trolls, Gintama FTW)

For me it would be:

- Sailor Moon (it was the anime which not only made me a fan of the genre, but of shoujo manga/anime)
- Legend of the Galactic Heroes (one of the best space operas)
- Utena (I love the music and the duels)
- Versailles no Bara (classic)

Hmm... One of my favourites was Slam Dunk. I learned to shoot from that manga, and the Anime? Every tuesday, on my local TV, religiously, we forced our parents to switch the channel to watch it.

More recently? Psycho Pass is awesome.

FLCL. It has beautiful music, exciting animation, and a clever story that will make you feel things without understanding why.

Some of the best ones I've seen so far are:
Ouran High School Host Club - I didn't think this one would endup being as hilarious as it is. I thought it would be just another dumb show full of attractive guys with no real personalities. Boy was I wrong.
Red Data Girl - I was bored and found it at random. Hooked from episode one. Is currently my #1 favorite.
Wolf's Rain - First anime I ever watched (unless you count Digimon as Anime, then it would be 2nd) Still one of my favorites even after... 7 years? It's been awhile.
Toradora - One of the most emotional ones that I actually liked.
Yu Yu Hakusho - Even though it's a lot older than the rest in my list, it is an amazing Anime with fairly realistic characters.

Those would probably be the top 5 for me. Fruits Basket is pretty high up on the list as well as Romeo X Juliet, Tokyo Ghoul, and Sword Art Online.

FMA was the very first anime I ever watched and liked, death note as well. They stroke me with their impressive characters, story and animation. But, more recently, I found Hyouka, a beautiful anime, really amazing.
Always ongoing and released this year: Death Parade. God, I got feels every episode.

Actually an easy question for reasons I cannot really figure out, but Kotoura-San is my favorite anime of all time.

It's just so simple and charming, just a short little series that is all kinds of fun whilst being emotionally powerful and helped out by the inclusion of one of my absolute favorite anime characters of all time. Manabe is simply the most heroic non-heroic character ever, just a ten out of ten person even whilst being cripplingly normal and unremarkable.

definitely K-on, specifically season two. Outside of Mio and Ritsu, that show has absolutely no faults whatsoever. The ending of season 2 was one of the most bittersweet moments ever. I've never been more sad when a show has ended than when K-on did. I still hold out hope that they'll animate the college manga, but from the few chapters I read it wasn't near the same quality as the original. But to be fair, I also hear the original manga was bad to begin with and they actually made everything better in the anime, so who knows.

My second favorite would be Kemono no Souja Erin, but for many different reasons. Very underrated show. Erin is one of the best heroines I've seen in any media.

I wouldn't say there's a best, but here's some that I really enjoyed.

K-On - feels so light and fluffy, very comfy watch. Reminds me of the summer after high school and college, and the bittersweet realization that you have to move on with life
Full Metal Panic - especially loved Fumoffu, hilarious as heck
Full Metal Alchemist - both versions, great storytelling, unique premise
Silver Spoon - great storytelling plus agriculture is exciting
Highschool of the Dead - zombies and fanservice, fun to watch... okay this is a guilty pleasure
Noragami - a sweet blend of comedy and drama
Magi - love the adventure
Scrapped Princess - great story, love the twists
Phantom - Requiem of Phantom - kuudere + assassin. I like these kind of stories, still bitter about the ending though
Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki kun - comedy gold
Seirei no Moribito - amazing animation, moving story and unconventional plot
Sengoku Basara - love the action
Sket Dance - infinite bokke and tsukomi
Steins; Gate - el psy congroo

Recent additions would be Shirobako (slice-of-life done right, imo) and Amaburi (fun story from the author of FullMetalPanic)
Finished VNs:
