Re: Does anyone miss Final Fantasy?
I agree that it is a shame... I mean at the very least, I don't even know what FFXIII is. Ridiculous. And it's supposed to be getting another sequel? I really am hoping that they're going to release an HD FFX soon..
Re: Does anyone miss Final Fantasy?
I still remember having the patience to dodge the 200 thunderbolts needed for Kimahri's weapon in FFX... :pAngeBeatrice wrote:I really am hoping that they're going to release an HD FFX soon..
I also remember having the patience to get the best materia for the Ruby and Emerald Weapons battles in FFVII...
And I still remember saying "About time you emo !" as the story of FFVIII unfolded... xD
Yep, I'm in the nostalgia train as well and was very disappointed with FFXIII.
Off topic : By the way AngeBeatrice, I like your nickname.

Re: Does anyone miss Final Fantasy?
I'm still waiting for the remake of FFVII. When they play "PS3 version" of FF7, I was really excited. They made FF7 Advent Children and bunches of other FF7s, so why not remake the original version?

Why would you want to play the same game again? You already know everything that will happen.

The #renpy IRC channel is a great place to chat with other devs. Due to the nature of IRC and timezone differences, people probably won't reply right away.

The same reason why you watch a same movie over and over again. To feel the experience again.

Re: Does anyone miss Final Fantasy?
I don't really miss FF since I'm continuously replaying it. My personal favorite is FFX, and I'm also currently replaying that. xD Opinions are all opinions and I guess I'm just a sucker for most anything Square-Enix because I don't dislike any Final Fantasy I've had the fortune to be able to play. And ten always, always makes me cry about a hundred times, but I very much can associate with the storyline. And also I think the characters are strong and I admire them.
As for the minigames, I always joke that there's a separate section at Square-Enix of people who sit in a room and think up the most frustrating and evil mini-games they can possibly think of. And then put them in the game and torment people like me who can't stand not finishing EVERYTHING in the game. ... Damn you stupid Butterfly game. I think the Chocobo one in FFX was worse. I wanted to kill things. Stupid seagulls! I JUST WANT TIDUS' BEST WEAPON. So far in my four playthroughs, I've only done it once. |D

I believe they are too scared about screwing it up. If they fail remaking FF 7, it would be one step closer to doom for the saga.LVUER wrote:They made FF7 Advent Children and bunches of other FF7s, so why not remake the original version?
Well, at least let's just pretend it's not doomed yet X3

Then they should learn from SNK. They were almost doomed several times but always manages to survive by dishing out great games.
And Square should really stop relying only on graphics to make great games (FF equals super awesome graphics... that's it).

Re: Does anyone miss Final Fantasy?
All right, I'm just gonna come out and say it: I don't like most of the FF games.
FFs I-VI were not fun for me. I played them more out of a sense of obligation than anything else (and I only finished 1 and 2, though I did almost get to the end of both 3 and 4). Battles were repetitive and dull, and the stories didn't really succeed in blowing me away as much as they did other FF enthusiasts.
FFX was the first one I played and thoroughly enjoyed (I still need to finish the arena dklsjfkls). It's my favorite of the whole series. After that, I played FFIX and FFVII, enjoyed those both as well (FFIX more so than VII). also, uh, ffviii happened at some point, but I only got to the train-jacking part and then loaned it out
I personally hated FFXII, but that's a rant for another thread. orz
And finally, FFXIII.
...It at least had pretty graphics? Oh, and a lesbian couple, that too. also I love Lightning to death <333
So I guess... I don't really miss FF, because I never really liked it that much in the first place, at least, not as much as I thought I did.

@Victoria Jennings:
Then may be Final Fantasy series is just not for you. If you don't like at least FF1 or FF6 or FF7 or FF10 then may be you won't like the rest of Final Fantasy anyway...
Well, do you like RPG genre? What kind of RPG (or the title) that you like?

I didn't really like FFVI, FFI was... eh, to tell the truth, I did have fun with it to an extent. More than the other older ones. And as I stated before, I loved FFX and quite liked FFVII.LVUER wrote:@Victoria Jennings:

Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep, The World Ends With You, and Persona 3, to name a few of the JRPGs I liked. For RPGs in general, loved Dragon Age II. Overall, RPGs are what I mostly end up playing. I guess I just... don't really see the appeal in a lot of the FF games. orzLVUER wrote:Well, do you like RPG genre? What kind of RPG (or the title) that you like?

Re: Does anyone miss Final Fantasy?
Persona 3 have dating-sim elements, while the rest RPG you said have strong action elements. So I think a traditional turn-based RPG like FF (with exception of FFXII and FFXIII) may be is not for you.
Perhaps you want to try other traditional RPGs, to see if you can like traditional JRPG? Like Suikoden 1 and 2 (the rest are bad), Wild Arms series, Breath of Fire 1-4, Dragon Quest series.

Re: Does anyone miss Final Fantasy?
I personally recommend the Wild Arms series.

+1 to that, oh yeah !Kuroneko_rg wrote:I personally recommend the Wild Arms series.
Don't forget about Grandia 2 and Skies of Arcadia ! Some of the Tales of games are awesome as well. I have a few more in mind but if I start I'll never end it

Re: Does anyone miss Final Fantasy?
Grandia is a good RPG but does not employ traditional turn-based battle system like Final Fantasy, that's why it's not in my recommendation. I haven't play Skies of Arcadia. Recent Wild Arms begins to use Hex system, the battle flow is still a turn-based one.
If we're not limiting ourselves with traditional one, then I have bunches of recommendation, like Valkyrie Profile, Star Ocean, Tales series.
