Orange haired protagonist in otome game?

I was wondering why most heroines in otome games have orange hair. I know there have been plenty of heroines that have other hair color. I felt there was a trend

Not to mention the whole Author appeal thing.

I wouldn't say most of them are red heads. If anything I find that there are more brunettes than anything, but then again there's a lot of otome games.

Well, from my own opinion, it's because red haired girls in the real world is rare. Since anime and games are for satisfaction's sake, I'm sure it's because of that reason too why the creator decided to do so.

Hm, some examples I know myself (not cheating by checking the list or anything) are Shana, that heroine from Kage no Stigma, heroine from DxD, Kushina from Naruto, and well... I don't pay attention to anime anymore, so that's all I could remember.

But then again, I also see the brunette girls becoming the heroine (especially in the Japanese VNs ex. Starry Sky).

I tend to see a lot of brunettes, really. I thought it had something to do with how brunnete is more common/plain, so it's easier to impose yourself into the role. Same reason they hide the heroine in CGs

I would rather say that most heroins are blonde or brown in hair color ôo
Brown if she is supposed to be a everyday girl (that maybe becomes strong, magical, whatever) or blonde when she is sweet, kind OR totally wicked but it's not supposed to be known.

Red/Orange hair...
To be honest, I don't really remember any game with such a heroine. Funny hair colors like green, silver or blue, yes. But I remember almost no red hair girl, also no black hair except it is setted in asia/africa and very realistic. As a side character, yes, but I remember no game that has characters will a lot of different hair colors where the female MC is black haired.
And the same goes wth red.
Maybe because redhairs are often the game-cliche of being passionate, having a hot temper and are also slightly aggressive, which makes a great tsun-girl, but not really a good heroine.

After browsing the VNDB for character traits, I found out that I could filter the characters with red hair by gender (female) and by role (protagonist). I didn't know the VNDB could do this until today... and I have browsed the site extensively. Anyway, here are the redhead main characters from genuine GxB stories in the list:

I have no objections to a redhead as a protagonist, a love interest, or any other character. It's just a hair color...
