That wouldn't surprise me (haven't seen Azumanga), but the various poses in which the character is set are parodies of various mobile suits/craft from the UC Gundam universe. For example, the ones in your sig are a Zeon Dopp (I think) and Federation Medea. The resemblences are rather sketchy, but it's much more apparent when there's a collection of them to see at the same time.

Hmm, the picture isn't showing - but extrapolating from the filename, probably not those. The ones that I'm talking about generally look like those in your sig, in different poses or with accessories like brooms or other people, and don't wear armor or anything like that - just the normal school outfit.

Haha, Sai, in that picture you posted I swear the girl in the middle's gonna take off (maybe if I watch it for long enough), then arc around, and come down and start drilling a hole in the floor...if she hasn't already been knocked senseless by the girl to her left

Well, to explain, the Megatokyo comic itself has references to Visual Novels (one of the characters is even a voice actor for a Visual Novel it seems) and the guy who makes the comic is a big fan of Visual Novels (so his character in the comic also enjoys them, and has met up with others who also love them), hence his Makoto avatar (if he still has it on in the forum) and how his website servers are also named after Kanon characters heh. It's not the main focus however which is why I thought I'd explain, because depending on which person or story theme the comic is currently focusing on, you may have to go back some issues to get to any references.

Best place to look though is in the forum, they have a section for discussion on Visual Novels and an extensive FAQ for information on them.
