Spring 2013

#1 Post by post_electric » Mon Apr 01, 2013 9:16 pm

So what will you be picking up? I'm quite interested in Photo Kano, Date A Live, Aiura, RDG and Aku no Hana myself [already watched GuP]. Hopefully this season ends up being a little better than the last, I only ended up finishing three shows from it.

Sorry for not posting this image but it's too big to be posted here.

Shingeki no Kyojin ftw.

It'd be nice to see Elen(Helen? I forgot the hero's name! Dx) moving around. To see people getting eaten by the giants and to see bloody scenes(yes I love them). I'm very excited to see the part where
Elen's mom got eaten in the 1st chapter. It was the very first gore in the manga and is the scene which left such a strong impression to me.
Then Carnival? I always buy Zero(the magazine it was localized) to read Joker no Kuni no Alice but I got hooked in Carnival instead :/

Ah, so many series to choose from, and even more old series that I should have watched.

I'm also a bit reluctant to be the guy to walk into a random place and ask "so, what anime should I watch?"

Devil Survivor, definitely, not sure about anything else. It's not that I don't see anything good, but I just always find it hard to choose animes to watch. XD *is more of a manga reader*

Just saw Aku no Hana, I'm kind of divided by the artstyle chose. Mostly because I feel a little bit pretentious
to segment the viewers with it(Since the original style was pretty animu)
Anyway, I liked the first episode, it has a great ambience and GOD I didn't know they would include one of my
fav japanese vocalist there! I'm so happy.
The ED was as upsetting as the OP, I liked how the ED creeped on the scene...I don't know how are going to
make it fit in all eds but on this one ..HNNG

I'm waiting for Shingeki no Kyojin! I hope it doesn't dissapoint!
At least I can difference between characters lol...In the manga it was pretty hard to know.
I'm also kind of sad that they didn't made the titans as the manga, which had those
creepy as hell mugs
;_;

Ohoho, you quoted me doing a shameful grammatical error :_:
Yeah, I read why did the director wanted that artstyle. I'm quoting this from a recent interview:
- At first Nagahama (the director) refused the offer to direct the adaptation, because he thought that simply turning this manga into a pretty, clean-looking anime would be pointless. He says that he believes that when the mangaka draws this story he's seeing something "else" which he expresses as a manga. So there would be no point in simply presenting it in animated form, at that rate you might as well just read the manga and be done with it.
- He thought if it was to be adapted at all, it should be done as a live drama. When he was offered the job the second time, he pitched the idea of using rotoscope. He was aware that the result would be different from the manga.
- Oshimi (the mangaka) says Nagahama is right about the way he creates the manga: the original story is something that exists in his head, and he draws what he sees in his mind. So basically the anime and the manga are two different versions of the story that exists in Oshimi's head. By the way, he was also aware that due to the rotoscope the anime would look different from his work, and he thought it was an interesting idea.
- Oshimi also says that he thinks Nagahama has a very deep insight into the story, and firmly believes that he's taking it in the right direction. He also very much approves of Nagahama's wish of the anime leaving the viewers with a scar.
- Oshimi was pretty much "in" on the whole thing, they tested the rotoscope method on him.
With that said, I kind of accept more their decision. I didn't had much protest with the artstyle itself, but the intention they had with it.

I'm going to watch it too, dunno if until the end? Since the manga is still ongoing...
Ending in the festival's attempt of suicide would be awesome.

I guess I understand what he wanted, I'm quite sick of all this 'MOE' anime look that's been going on for a while.
But this is not how you do it, not like this, this is doing more harm then good! They could do so much better with all this rotoscopeing,
People don't even look like that have faces half the time and, their bodies are made of clay!

I also don't think this is the best artstyle for a series this... crazy either. Some of the scenes in the manga are really extreme, can they even do some of them with this artstyle?
Makes me really wonder how the rape scene will be implanted...
I'm not asking for something like this...
Image
But I'm not asking for this either!

Maybe something more the lines like this...

I just feel like the creator made a bad decisions with this take of artstyle.
Especially how amazing the manga actually looks itself.
(Though, other people would disagree with that.)

*Note* : I respect all artstyles! I'm not a hater of real-life animation.

Meanwhile; in MAL.

Aku no Hana is the number 1 worse Anime series on that site now.

Congratulations Aku no Hana!

Just had to post this...

Yay! A fellow Shingeki no Kyojin fan(?)! I bought all the volumes and is planning to send hate mails if they butcher the series' awesome-ness. (kidding).

It was quite annoying that they are airing it in midnight(well, it's quite gore so I can't blame them). But I have my curfew so I either record it or just wait till it gets out on the net or the rental store Q_Q

(I love how they used Kaji Yuki as Elen's voice x3 But it would take time getting used to it since I'm still watching magi, you know. Pretty disappointed on Taniyama's role. Why such a sexy voice is voicing such an unimportant character?!)

WHERE IS MY RIVAI? WHO'S VOICING HIIIIMMMM!!!!

----okay, I'm ending this shingeki no kyojin rant. orz

Recently watched the first ep pf Karneval. Its pretty good so far and a little creepy -lots of foreshadowing. I like how the voice actor portrays Nai its different but better to how I pictured him from the manga. Is anyone else watching this?

Hm, for this spring I wanted to start watching anime every week again, but I only have watched episode 1 of OreImo 2 so far.
Still I'd like to watch Karneval, Aiura, Yahari andsoon, Photo Kano, Date A Live, Hentai Ouji and UtaPrince

However, I'm afraid I'll end up watching only Ore Imo and UtaPri... Even thought I was looking forward to Date A Live for a ong time.
