Lucky Star is great if you like the 4koma style humor. Else is can kinda dull...

I enjoyed it though =D.

Lucky Star was alright. The OP is great. The content itself is a little harder to judge. Sometimes it's funny, sometimes it's not. I personally found the shorter scenes to be funnier than the longer running ones.

I'll keep watching it because I liked it enough, although I will always be hoping for another Lucky Channel segment. That was absolutely hilarious. Actually, hoping for another segment like that might be one of the only reasons I'll keep watching...

Dancing... yeah, they're milking the dance craze (Suzumiya Haruhi, all the 3D cartoon trailers, etc.)

I liked looking at the animations since its interesting how they can make them so cute using the minimum number of lines in their character designs.

But I probably will drop this show sooner or later (most probably sooner). I prefer to have some plot, and besides, there's Seirei no Moribito and Darker than Black (plus couple of other upcoming subs I haven't watched yet). But basically I would definitely follow during a lighter season, but this spring season has its heavy-hitters already.

Absolutely terrible. The series felt like it was the lame kid trying to follow all the cool kids' trends. I couldn't believe they would actually make something like this and let a scene about food go on for 8 minutes. Everyone hates small talk and this series is based on the smalltalk of young girls. The characters weren't likable and it overall was a huge blunder. The OP made my ears bleed. It wasn't funny.

The original yonkoma was probably good, but hopefully, this is the last time KyoAni writes an original script.

The original yonkoma was probably good, but hopefully, this is the last time KyoAni writes an original script.
From what I understand, the 4koma was equally hit or miss with readers. Supposedly, the situational humor isn't amusing to many people besides hardcore otaku (the appeal is less about jokes than unabashed acknowledgment or glamorization of the subculture they love. These references give fans warm, fuzzy feelings of amusement, but might cause other people to roll their eyes).

Of course, the anime is said to introduce some problems in terms of timing and delivery. Nonetheless, it's easy to see why KyoAni chose a property with such narrow appeal. A low budget series might be a tough sell to mainstream audiences. However, this niche crowd (who're also more likely to buy Japan's high-priced DVDs than anyone else) might dig a show like Lucky Star, despite the simple presentation.

That's part of Lucky Star's moé appeal (smalltalk between cute girls who share the lifestyle of the target audience). Judging by what I've read online, the formula is working with some viewers, so it's premature to declare it a failure.

Surprisingly, the OP is popular even among Lucky Star haters. I personally find it repulsive (haven't seen the actual show yet), but that's just me.

The girls talking thing has been done before. See: Manabi Straight, Azumanga Daioh, Ichigo Mashimaro. Difference is, those series all had some action and great lovable characters who are arguably even more moe than the characters in this series that try too hard to be moe. Same with the fuzzy feelings of otaku culture. That's been done in Akihabara@DEEP and Densha Otoko to mention a few.

This series just plays on the tasteless crowd that love the most mediocre of series for whatever their reasons. And KyoAni needs a filler series to try and amass funds for MoHS season two. :p

Well I like it mostly for Konata's personality (nearly the same as me xD )
And yes, that is not super humor anime, but it made me relaxed and some jokes were good (like that from test doctor checkup)
And girls talk is great to see it in anime though :D 8)

AND OPENING WAS GREAT, better dance than Haruhi for sure :P

With the opening, I think Kyoani was trying too hard to recapture Haruhi. I also think, right now, Kyoani works best staying fairly close to an original work. The further they get, the more problems they have (see Munto, Munto 2, and the last episode of Kanon 2006 for some examples of this.)

Am I the only one who like Haruhi's opening better then the ending?

Call me tasteless, but I actually liked it. Not for the dance or anything flashy like that, but I actually appreciated the small talk. The feel of the show...it's been a long time since I've seen something like this (since Azumanga Daioh), and it feels refreshing. (although maybe I've just been a hermit and there's a dozen other similar animes out there)

I wasn't reminded of Haruhi when I saw the OP; it seemed original to me. Perhaps more evidence that I'm not watching enough anime? >_>

Watched episode 2 last night, and liked it a lot more then I did episode 1. At least, I laughed a few times last night, which is more then I can say for the first episode.
