?_? Okay, I was flipping through my paper's local tv listings and came upon a blurb for this new show. *points to title* Apparently, it's about cartoon versions of the members of a pop group called..."Puffy AmiYumi" >_> <_< Anyway, my J-pop senses have been tingling ever since....does anybody here know anything about the group or the show? I figured this would be a good place to look first. ^_^ On a completely (more or less) different note, does anybody else listen to Yoko Ishida? And think she pwns all?

Okay, I watched the first ep and got a CD....The CD is quite awesome, but I'm easily impressed by anything Japanese. ^_^;; The show was...funky, but cool...kinda Dexter's Lab and Samurai Jack meet...some random J-popish anime.

Isn't it suppose to be about two famous pop singers?

Puffy Amiyumi (known in Japan as just Puffy, but they had to change their name when they stared performing in the US) is a JPOP group, probably best known in the US for performing both versions of the Teen Titans theme song.
Hi-Hi Puffy Amiyumi is an American animated show that somehow follows their adventures. (I haven't seen it.)
Wikipedia now officially has articles on everything.

On a side note, it seems that you can get their CD stateside as I saw a review on Rollingstone in their latest issue. They gave them a 3 out of 5 stars.

I was / am disappointed with the series.
The music isn't as good as I thought it'd be for a female group ,
( I usually tend to prefer female Japanese / Japanese female singers over the males...it's funny because I love listening to both when it comes to the German or American / "English" language and others but the males in Japanese music tend to be unattractive...at least in voice anyway. I'd rather listen to a Japanese male speaking but if they sing I probably won't be happy. *laughs* ) , the cartoon is kinda cute but that's about it...very dull / stupid series and the girls ...unless they are being hyper cute or whatever...just seem like emotionless robots or they do stupid things. I hate that in people. Just sitting or standing and staring / looking dull when they are supposed to be wai wai / genki girls....it's a bit of a creepy feeling and annoying. Sigh.
Strange that I could dislike their series so much when I love their Teen Titan n theme song / the Teen Titan show and theme song. ( both versions of the theme song too! ) I like the theme song of Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi Show too.
( "Dexter's Lab and Samurai Jack" What the hey..?! Sorry but I disagree. I'm a huge fan of both of those series and HHPAY is NOTHING like DL and SJ....just because they all have touches of Anime and stuff doesn't mean they're alike in any sense. )

Sorry, I'm necroposting to the max, but the reason the HiHiPuffyAmiYumi show sucks is because:
1) They don't actually do the voices for the characters.
2) It's just a show based off of their music and being a band in general, not really off their band
3) It's made in America. American shows generally suck, with a few exceptions.(Invader Zim, anyone?)

And nick pulled that as soon as they could. I'm in mourning.
I never felt the urge to watch this because it looked like the powerpuff girls or dexter, (both of which were interesting in the first season, and then became impossible to sit though later on) If you want /anime/ about a band, try Beck.

Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi is an okay show, though it gets a bit unbearable after awhile, alright.
Nick has this new American made series called
Avatar: The Last Airbender that shows some promise. So far it hasn't disappointed - and hopefully, Nick won't pull the plug on it. <.<'

From what i heard, they aren't as popular now as they were in the Past in Japan. They pretty much reaching the end of the roads, but still have a secure place in the world.
I like the show, only cuz i watch tv when im really bored.
I do perfer watching Anime Selected or Anime on Demand on cable, rather than cartoon network itself

Yeah, the hit band in Japan today is Orange Range (o-ren-ji ren-ji).
Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi is an awful, awful kids' show, but there are a lot of those these days and it promotes J-Pop so why not.
