Ar tonelico 2

#1 Post by Blue Lemma »

Has anyone played this? It's really good! Okay, the game is good... the localization is quite shoddy. But even all the typos and weirdness in the grammar couldn't ruin the game or the story for me 8)

I think I logged a good 55 hours in one playthrough - sheesh! Maybe in the future I'll go back and take a different path :) If you've played AT1, AT2 has some great references and characters from #1. You don't need to have played AT1 to enjoy or understand AT2, though.

You can tell the original game creators took great pride in their work! :D

I think there has been a topic like this in the past, discussing both AT1 and AT2.

And yes, AT2 is indeed better than AT1. At least the story is original (which I raised some disappointment with AT1's story), although the story is somewhat lacking ... I don't know. But the system is way more complicated (and of course, better) than AT2.

Overall, this is a good game (not great). Lots of good music ^_^ and OMG, original Japanese voice! YES! I hope they just do that in every voiced Japanese games!

For me, excellent game, but horrendous localization, because of all the issues the US version has that weren't present in the JP one.

I've played it, and found out that Jacqli is my most favorite reyvatail.
Her cosmosphere has ayatane, which is my fave char at AT1, I can't believe she is MIR!
There's a lot of sexual innuendos there, rite?

Almost all of these added in the localization, given that the original version had much fewer innuendos (and by extension, even less than At1).

I haven't had a chance to play my AT games yet so :(
Good news is that I'm taking my time to play the games I haven't played yet so :)

How long does it take to finish the first AT game btw?

From 30 to 80 hours, depending on how much time you dedicate to the optional quests, and in many other factors, such as doing the two paths or completing the extras menu database.

That's a decent play time. Thanks for answering. =)

I went with Luca because I'm a sucker for the childhood friend thing >_<
(I know, how boring :P )

I was looking at a FAQ though, and it seems that if you put off completing Cosmosphere Lv 5 for the girls until just about the end, you can get all endings easily without much backtracking (Luca, Cloche, Jacqli, and Cocona :D )

From what I read, not choosing any of the girls for your partner in their Lv 5 Cosmosphere will result in the Cocona ending.

Sublimation ~ omness chs ciel sos infel, Viena, and METHOD_METAFALICA/. are my favorites, but in general, all of the hymns are masterpieces. Not only musically, but also lyrically (how many songs in a game do tell you about their characters, and even tell legends of its world?)
