I know this is not about Japan... it's about UK to be exact. A visual novel take over the world attention by storm, Doki Doki Literature Club.

This game is clearly not for children and easily disturbed... There's already a warning about that... So who's to blame...

Personal opinion: The funny thing is the anchorwoman said that "the graphics is aimed for children..." wut? So because something has colorful graphics, despite having adult rating, kids can enjoy it?

People love to shift blame on others and other things. It helps them not having to deal with their own responsibility.

If fictional entertainment drives someone to suicide, its probably the environment they're in and not the novel at all.

Personally, I'd blame the parents for not responsibly raising the child.

I really "love" how they say "we believe the game is a risk to children and young people" since obviously yes, otherwise there wouldnt be a huge warning at the beginning of the game. Any game with a warning or age restriction has it for a reason. So rather than talking about how the game is a "danger" or other games on that matter, empathise more that the talks are, despite if your child plays games or whatever, always important and should always be done.

To the creators of DDLC, please dont lets this affect you in any way, you are absolutly not to blame. Please stay strong!

well, on the other hand, I hope DDLC's sales will massively rise and visual novel as a genre will get more notice after this.

I think it's cool from the BBC to invite peoples who have played the game and know what they are talking about, I didn't expect this. Despite that, yeah of course Doki Doki is not the cause at allĀ ; If you ignore the message at the begining it is not Dan's fault.

(also the DDLC Background on the stage is very fancy~)

Edit: I'd written more, but I'm going to cut it down to the relevant parts -- the UK news clip linked doesn't blame the game, it features a discussion in which these are the primary points made:

1) Anime isn't just for children, and this is a dating sim aimed at an older audience.
2) The game contains a suitable warning.
3) Violence in video games is safe for healthy individuals.
4) People with pre-existing emotional problems may be disturbed, but this particular game is not to blame, as there are many similar games out there.
5) Parents should be engaged with their children and the media they consume, as well as look for out for red flags that may indicate the child is already troubled or suicidal.

The news anchor proposes questions such as, "Is this safe?" and ultimately agrees with the answers given above. The UK media and parents seem way more reasonable than what I am used to in america.

They are not directly blaming... more like implying? IDK the words. Notice that they repeatedly say "the graphics is for aimed for children", "should the age rating set higher", etc. Implying that something should have or could have been done.
But only the BBC though, the rest of people there, like that women from kotaku and the one in TV, knows what they're talking about.
