lines that just make you crack up every time...

I got my hands on Tenchi Muyo OVA (translation: what was known as "Tenchi Muyo!" in the US. not tenchi universe (Tenchi Muyo TV) or tenchi in tokyo, but the first "season"), watched the first two episodes, and have already come across lines (and sometimes entire scenes) that I just find funny every time I watch them.

anyhow, if you have a line from an anime that you just find funny, go ahead and post it here.

as far as one I found funny, it's in Episode 2 ("Here Comes Ayeka" [not that definition, perverts!]) at the very beginning when Ryoko asks for the gems from Tenchi's sword (which, ironically, is also named Tenchi... imagine that.)

Ryoko: now... I want your balls, please.

Tenchi:wha- no way! They're mine, and I'm gonna hang on to them!

Ryoko: YOU NUMBSKULL, I'm mean the three jewels on your sword

I've got most of the Tenchi Muyo OAV series <on VHS> and there are a LOT of lines in there that are VERY funny...here's one from the 4th one of the series (forget the title):

Mihoshi: If you can fix this then that means...than means...are you a jeweler?

Ryoko: GAH! No, I'm NOT!!

same episode as musical74 ("Mihoshi falls to the land of stars", BTW), same scene, different point. when Mihoshi starts "pinpointing" the "space pirate" [ship] Ryo-ohki...

Mihoshi: Ryo-ohki's position is only... 6... inches? *really scared look on face*

*Ryo-ohki takes a bite out of Mihoshi's gun*

Mihoshi: please don't eat my gun...*faints*

oh, and in episode 6 ("We Need Tenchi"), appearantly Mihoshi is truely blonde...

Washu: there is no way out. absolutely none. no way. that's got it?

Mihoshi:no, I don't get it at all

*Washu drops to the floor in typical stunned fasion*

*brief scene with Ryoko dodging ******'s attacks*

Mihoshi: so what you're telling me is that there's no way out?

Washu: where were you when they handed out the brains?

Mihoshi: how can this be? you created the ship, didn't you?

Washu: mm-hmm... and that is why it is so perfect!

*Mihoshi's turn to be stunned*

(by the way, anyone know what the middle finger translates to from Japanese sign language to English sign language?)

I think it made the series very funny to have Mihoshi as a ditzy blonde...she seems to be SO clueless about everything, which makes things very interesting when Ryoko and Ayeka decide to start throwing themselves at Tenchi (episode 7).

Anyway, here's another one from epipose 6, We need Tenchi!...

*Tenchi is fighting Kagato and isn't doing terribly well*

Washu: OK, so there is just one more thing that we can try

Ayeka: What it is??

Washu: We can pray REALLY hard (starting murmuring)

*Ayeka and Mihoshi both fall to the floor in stunned fashion*

I have a quote, but its not technicaly from an anime...its from a game; Lunar 2 for the PS1 (however it did have anime artwork, character designs, and cut scenes) ANYWAY, near the start of the game you are walking to enter this castle and suddenly the sky darkens and all the people in your group freeze. Then this evil laughter bursts out and a bolt of lighting hits this girl you found (Lucia). After this happens she falls to the ground and the voice says:

Bwa hahahahaha! My dear sweet Lucia...was it good for you!?!

Oh man....CLASSIC! I laughed SO hard!

The middle finger translates to about the same thing wherever you go; that is: a big F*** YOU!

Galaxy Angel episode 9 has a couple funny ones...

first off...

*after Forte throws Normad in the hexagonal hallway*

this one is a running gag...

Forte: ... and if worst comes to worst, we can use this ultra-miniature bomb to blow the spaceship to smithereens

Ranpha: but if you use that bomb, we'll be blown to bits, too!

Forte: you're no fun...

Ryoko and Ayeka now rivals for Tenchi's love, and they meet outside at night, both expecting to run into Tenchi (and NOT each other)

Ryoko:

Hmmmm, what's this? A new nightie? (smells Ayeka) New perfume? I can practically smell your hormones! *My mind and body are pure - make love to me!* Is that it? (Ayeka gets VERY VERY red)

I believe so, but wasn't Ranpha also part of that episode? I don't think it featured the Twin Stars or Chitose, but I really don't recall it that well.

It wouldn't surprise me if it's just differences in how one translates Angel-Tai.
