Mwahaha...I have become stronger in the way of the otaku! I haven't found any of those groups, but stumbled on some stuff on my own...

Try Yoko Ishida for teh pop...Sugar Baby Love freakin owns. ^_^

And for rock, try Puffy AmiYumi...who should be easily found, what with the cartoon and stuff...
Meh, I don't feel like coming up with a sig right now....^_^;;

I am not a big fan of male Japanese singers / Japanese males when it comes to their music / singing but I love how they look.*sighs at self* I prefer female Japanese singers / Japanese female groups or solo artists.
I like to hear either talk though.

My exposure to J-Pop and J-Rock is very limited. However, my favorites are:
L'Arc~en~Ciel (older work)
YUKI
Garnet Crow (mainly the vocal performance rather than the music)

Some SPITZ and JUDY AND MARY songs are okay too.

In terms of singing, I'm not fond of the vocal style (often rather nasal-sounding, IMO) adopted by most Japanese male artists either. Is this a cultural preference? They seem popular enough in their home country.
