My video won't play...

Wanting to put a video at the start of the game (before you even see the menu).
Ive tried searching but none of the solutions have helped me =u=;;
Its a fairly large file. However, the size is not the problem, because I tested a smaller video and that didn't work either. I tried saving it as .avi and .mpg... but when the game starts, the music skips, the screen is black, and then it passes the video entirely. @u@;;
This is using the code for 'renpy.movie_cutscene'... anyone know what the problem could be?

your video is encoded wrong. try again as an avi but adjust the settings

I don't know much about video, can you explain to me how I adjust the settings? What settings do I adjust?

Is this video the only one that doesn't play (have you tried other videos)? Try playing the video in the demo that comes with Ren'Py - does that one work?

For me even the video in the demo doesn't play correctly when it's in fullscreen (only when it's small, behind Eileen) - although my computer has no problems with playing videos as far as I know.

try encoding it as a mkv

i had a simler problem with 6.12,the sound would play but the image just froze

downgraded to 6.11 and it worked just fine (still not sure what the problem was)

The demo video works fine.
I got the sound to (somewhat) work, and the game no longer completely ignores the video. I'm using an avi file. But the video is still black. X_X And after a few seconds, it starts to flip out and the sound skips crazily. Also, I'm using 6.11... so I'm kinda at a loss here... orz

my mkv settings are:

Video: MPEG 4 - 1500 kbps; Audio: MP3 - 192 kbps

i use ojosoft total video converter (not sure if that helps any)

if theres any way you could upload the video i could convert it for you

Oh, I download ojosoft total video converter and the free version only converts 20% of the video orz
So I will PM you the link to the file once I get home (currently in school) if thats all right
