Menu customization [solved]

Is there a way to determine if the game menu was entered from the main menu or a currently in-progress game? I want to vary the menu slightly based on this. I tried an if statement using MainMenu() since that is what would control whether a button for returning to the main menu would be active, but that didn't work how I expected.
