VERY MINOR "bug" but now the launcher window bar shows the text "pygame window" instead of the renpy version number :)

Jack, can you give the log.txt from the system with the titlebar problem?

Mugenjohncel, when I tried your GUI, I had the clipping problem - until I cleared out the persistent data. Then the problem went away, and I haven't been able to get it to come back. Could you try that, and see if it fixes things?

Unfortunately not... I tried this using the latest Renpy. I also did deleted persistent data and even resorted to manually deleting the contents of the cache folder but still displays the clipping behaviour... so I'm at a loss as to what to do at this point...

Shift+U will now get you 6.13.1.1626.

This should fix the remaining problems in 6.13.1, namely:

- The window title issue.
- The clipping issue Mugenjohncel reported. This turned out to be a fairly complex bug with the use of the scissor box by the shader-based renderer.
- A bug regarding the lack of a default implementation of config.auto_save_extra_info.
- Some doc fixes.

Again, please test this for compatibility with your various games and computers. I know of nothing that would prevent this from becoming 6.13.1, but a few more days of testing can't hurt.

No more graphic glitches or clipping issues here both on decent desktop and crappy netbook... :)

I tested on my various computer and seems to work fine. I wanted to ask you one thing though, if there's an alternative to the DX web installer? because it attempts to install a toolbar, and including that in my games installation might piss off some customers (I don't know WHY MS had to put that Bing toolbar thing right in the DX installation... bah that sucks).

UPDATE: I looked at sources and thought about a simple solution, a parameter so that the developer can choose what to do when the label _directx_update: is called? for example I'm going to just point users to the DX update page, since I'm pretty sure providing a DX web installer that by default tries to install the Bing toolbar would mean my game is labeled as spyware/crap by many users :roll:

The bing toolbar issue does annoy me.

I took your suggestion, and now if a directx_update label exists in the program, it will be called instead of the default directx update code.

In addition, the screen we put up when updating directx now reads:
Updating DirectX.

DirectX web setup has been started. It may start minimized in the taskbar. Please follow the prompts to install DirectX.

Note: Microsoft's DirectX web setup program will, by default, install the Bing toolbar. If you do not want this toolbar, uncheck the appropriate box.

When setup finishes, please click below to restart this program.

[Restart]
That'll be in 6.13.1 final.

Re: Ren'Py 6.13 Released

Just posted up Ren'Py 6.13.1.1629. This has the following changes:

- A change to Text, where a text object performs substitution when it is first created, rather than when it is shown. This makes the following code:

Code: Select all

screen test:
    vbox:
        for i in range(10):
            text "[i]"
Work as expected. Unfortunately, it means that:

Code: Select all

image blah = Text("[i]")
won't work, but I think the former is a far more useful use-case. Since no games have been released with 6.13, I figure that we can go ahead with this change.

- The change, discussed above, to the DirectX update phrasing.
- Documentation fixes.

Please test this version, but since the change to Text was really straightforward, I'm probably not going to delay the release beyond tomorrow for additional testing. (It's time we got a stable 6.13, already.)

Re: Ren'Py 6.13 Released

I checked it and have another suggestion (but of course don't think another update is needed just for this!). In the lines:

Code: Select all

        if renpy.renpy.windows and os.path.exists(__dxwebsetup):
            directx_update = Jump("_directx_update")
        else:
            directx_update = None
was thinking that if the dxwebsetup.exe is not found in /lib, the program could open a URL instead? like the page to perform the update: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/de ... g=en&id=35

it's also true that if MS changes that URL in future... so, not sure if is a good idea or not :mrgreen:

And 6.13.1 is now a final release. Grab it from:

http://www.renpy.org/release/6.13

Thanks go out to everyone who tested and reported bugs in 6.13.0 and the 6.13.1 pre-releases.

Oh, I think I just got bit by this. >_>; Is there a Ren'Py way of getting around this, or should I just create an image with the desired text in Photoshop/Gimp/etc.?
