Scene not transitioning [SOLVED]

#1 Post by Twisted-Eva » Mon Apr 23, 2012 3:04 am

I have this:

Code: Select all

  show dine
    with fade

c "Sheesh... It looks like there are no more seats... I should have skipped lines..."
c "Hm? Alan is here as well... What should I do?"
    #Talk to Alan menu
    menu:
        "Approach him":
            call approach
        "Go somewhere else":
            jump continue1

label continue1:
    show hall n
    with fade

c "What am I supposed to do with all of this food?"
r "Hey, soldier-in-training! Don't know where to eat? How about you eat with me?"
    #Go with Drake?
    menu:
        "Okay.":
            jump gowithrene
        "No thanks.":
            jump choosetogo

label choosetogo:
    r "Suit yourself"
    #Drake leaves
    menu:
"I should just go back to my room":
            jump callitaday
        "I should visit André's café":
            jump mainandreplot1

###Main Andre plot 1
label mainandreplot1:
    show cafe n
    with fade

c "I can't believe I'm out this late just to eat somewhere..."
c "I hope the city guards won't catch me."
The problem is that the dining room transitions to the hallway, but when I need the hallway to transition to the outside of the café, it doesn't happen. I have the café and its interior defined, but the problem is that the hallway fade transitions into the hallway again instead of transitioning into the café. The first menu is in script.rpy, the next 2 menu choices are in menu choices.rpy, and the guy's event is in Romance plots.rpy. There's no problem with the other two guys' paths, but this one is a problem.

It could be because your two images don't share the same tag so the cafe is not replacing the hallway when you do show. Add like a bg tag to where ever your images are defined.

Code: Select all

image bg dine = 'your_dine_image'
image bg hall n = 'your_hall_image'
image bg cafe n = 'your_cafe_image'
Also try using scene instead, it clears the display and places a new background.
Maybe something like this

Code: Select all

    scene bg dine
    with fade

c "Sheesh... It looks like there are no more seats... I should have skipped lines..."
c "Hm? Alan is here as well... What should I do?"
    #Talk to Alan menu
    menu:
        "Approach him":
            call approach
        "Go somewhere else":
            jump continue1

label continue1:
    scene bg hall n
    with fade

c "What am I supposed to do with all of this food?"
r "Hey, soldier-in-training! Don't know where to eat? How about you eat with me?"
    #Go with Drake?
    menu:
        "Okay.":
            jump gowithrene
        "No thanks.":
            jump choosetogo

label choosetogo:
    r "Suit yourself"
    #Drake leaves
    menu:
"I should just go back to my room":
            jump callitaday
        "I should visit André's café":
            jump mainandreplot1

###Main Andre plot 1
label mainandreplot1:
    scene bg cafe n
    with fade

c "I can't believe I'm out this late just to eat somewhere..."
c "I hope the city guards won't catch me."

Try what Code Monkey suggested and then make sure you have everything indented correctly. Your 'scene bg dine' looks indented wrong from the code you've just given xD

Yep, I realized that I'll probably not get taken seriously if even one line is not indented properly. I swear though, it's properly indented in the script but I don't bother to fix it in the

Code: Select all

 when asking questions.

Wow... What the heck... I realized that I was using scene but then for some odd reason I forgot that and used show instead. I'm such an idiot.
