There is one. I work on a Mac too (and I always have) and it doesn't really limit anything you can do with Ren'Py.

Ren'Py will open .rpy files with whatever editor you have bound to .rpy. I do not ship a text editor for the mac, because I don't know of a good small free one, that can be customized to support Ren'Py. I'd be interested in hearing peoples' recommendations.

It uses TextEdit by default, which is kind of sucky.
I use JEdit, which is free, but it doesn't do the color thingie with Ren'py (only regular Python)

Well, Mac Ren'Py has a compile feature just like Windows Ren'Py. But how to make completely-integrated little packages of mac apps, I'm not sure how to do that. The person that made "Ori, Ochi, Onoe" did it, though, but most just come as like a zipped file with all the files in it.

Remember that O3 was prior to the Launcher, so PyTom had to custom-build the various distrobutions for it.

The build distro function for all Launchers is more generic, but they shouldn't detract from making the game playable to a wide audience regardless of the original platform you made the game in.

Does anyone know of a good "installer" creation program for Mac?

Install the developer tools for OS X (should be on your install discs) and use PackageMaker -- it's the official install maker from Apple Computer.

As for Scite-like programs on the Mac, I've edited Smultron to work with .rpy files, syntax highlighting and all. If anyone wants me to upload my modified version, just say so.

Could you upload your patches to smultron, maybe on the Ren'Py wiki? I think that this is a tool that we should promote more.

I'm not entirely sure how I would upload the patch alone, without also having to provide advanced, detailed instructions on installing them. The files I needed to modify are in the application bundle. I'll figure out a way, because Smultron is a really great program, and it really should get more attention.

In the meantime, I'll see what I can do to get Xcode to recognize .rpy files, and upload the full application here:
