Packaging a "Readme.txt" file [2nd problem]

#1 Post by Fawkes - Feathered Melody » Sun May 06, 2007 4:13 pm

Is there a way to package a readme.txt file with the built in exporter / packager so that it'll be there in the main directory, not "game" directory that they'll have to dig up?

Yeah. Stick it in the directory with the name of your project, not the game directory underneath that directory.

Thanks. I'm not sure if I should create a new thread, but...

On a related note, the packager decided to do something very strange to the file. My friend and I were trying to figure out what.

It stuck the Noctua_readme.txt file in a blank directory and is causing difficulties with certain archivers: ZipGenius (error message: "Can't create Noctua Demo\\Noctua_readme.txt") and Windows XP's native utility, which erroneously shows the file inside a WINDOWS subfolder.

Screenshot from XP's own archive viewer (made in a second export where I renamed the file to just readme.txt to see if it had any effect)

It extracts properly with winzip and izarc and 7zip, however.

I put it in the directory renpy-6.2.0\Noctua Demo\ which contains Noctua_readme.txt along with the directory \game\
