I've been having a bit of trouble with my Steam based copy of "Analogue: A Hate Story" recently. Whenever I try to switch from windowed mode to fullscreen (and sometimes even if I don't try), I get an error message that states the following:

Is there anything I can do? I have validated my local files using Steam, but that did not help. To be frank, I'm at a loss. Any and all help is appreciated.

Odd, usually people reporting this issue have old Intel graphics drivers.
Anyway, if you press SHIFT+G, you can force Ren'Py to use a different graphics rendering mode; that often helps. Also, you might want to make sure your graphics drivers are up-to-date. (Steam has a convenient "Check for Video Driver Updates" option for this.)

I tried forcing all of the different options: Angle/DirectX, OpenGL, and Software. That "Check for Video Driver Updates" option looks like my only hope. How would I access that?

In Steam, under the "Steam" menu in the top-left corner. (Or you can go to the AMD website to get the current driver.)
