Modifying Characters in Renpy-Please help!

#1 Post by Fenrir34 » Thu Aug 15, 2013 7:01 pm

So I was wondering how you modify a character from something like Tokudaya? I have character data but don't know how to use it. Is it possible to do it in renpy Editra? Do I really need photoshop to change their appearance....If so then I'm in trouble

Ren'Py isn't an image editor except for a few functions. What kind of editing are you trying to attempt?

A tokudaya fantasy character image. When i downloaded some of the files they already have character sprites with them so I didn't need to customize them. Others didn't and the only way I could make the character was in open office. Only problem with that is that open office doesn't give me a transparent bg

Um... Why not use Paint?
Better yet, Paint.net is free and can create transparent backgrounds. Give that a download.
Other would suggest Gimp but Paint.net is great for beginners learning how to draw.
Much Appreciated for those who took the Survey!

I-I've never heard of open office being used as an image editor before . As Shippok said, Paint.net and Gimp are both fantastically powerful tools considering they are 100% free. In fact I've grown up using Gimp and find there isn't much it can't do once you have the right plugins.

Also, be careful about what kind of customizing you are doing too. I'm not very familiar with Tokudaya but as far as I know, many such sites do not allow sprite modifications, though knowing my luck I may have just stumbled on the select few that don't.

I was able to make the character in open office but can't get rid of the background. Oh well. I'll just have to live with what I've got. Thanks anyway.
