From version 5.6.7 release notes : http://renpy.org/wiki/renpy/releases/5. ... %28midi%29
Midi support has been deprecated for a while, and this release removes it. Please convert midi files to another format, such as OGG vorbis.

Where can I find a free converter?

Erm...I can't seem to get Synthfont convert my midi files...but ModPlug tracker seems to be able to convert midi to wav files.

Be careful though : Modplug has a problem with opening midi files and retaining the proper rythm. Notes will be offbeat and stuff :/...

Synthfont just plays them, it doesn't convert them, do you know any free conversion programs?

Playing them is often enough, since you can then use any old recorder to get at least a wave file out of them.

I'm sure I've used WinAmp for this kind of thing before, doesn't it have a 'file' output option?

Oh i didn't thought of that. I kept looking for midi to wav converters so that i could convert them to ogg.

Anyway here's a link provided monele for oggdrop, a wav to ogg converter.
http://www.rarewares.org/ogg-oggdropxpd.php
ogg it smaller in size compared to wav files though still quite large compared to midi.

Can you name one and tell me how to do that?

I've never seen such a button on winamp before.

I think SWITCH can convert from mid to just about any format, including .ogg

It's not an immediate button. You have to in the preferences (Ctrl+P) to change the output (Plug-ins > Output), and pick "Nullsoft Disk Writer" I think. Or maybe "MP3 Output" if you have it and the other doesn't work. (double clicking one of these gives you parameters such as output folder, conversion options, etc...)

Yes it does convert them. See #1.) in the attached diagram.

#2.) These are the midi instruments used when you compose the song.

#3.) These are the soundfonts (.sf2) and external audio wavs used for the final render.

Can't believe it's there all along. Still it very well hidden so I guess it's no wonder people can't find it.

Worked. But, the volume is sooo low now. How do I adjust it to be the same as the .mid file's volume is?
