Disabling Clicking

I'm making a turn-based RPG, and the combat system makes heavy use of screen menus. However, if one clicks on something other than a button during this, it either skips ahead, or bugs out, depending on whether the next screen wants certain variables. I was wondering if there was a way to disable clicking like in the standard choice menu, but I couldn't find one in there, nor anything that worked in the similar thread on this site.

"modal True" should prevent clicking a screen from affecting anything below the screen and making it skip ahead.
