Maximizing in Windowed Mode

#1 Post by DesertFox » Wed Aug 26, 2015 7:14 pm

Having a beta tester play through a beta version of a game and they pointed out that in windowed mode, when they hit the maximize button of the window, the window doesn't fill the screen all the way. It sort of fills some of the screen but not the whole thing.

Is there a fix for this?

No.

This is because if we were to let it fill completely, it would overlap with the interface chrome. When that happens, performance drops substantially. (This is a decision we can revisit soon, as windows 10 doesn't have this problem.)

Thanks for the speedy reply! Okay, I might just sort it so it begins in Fullscreen. Sort of removes the incentive for them to hit the maximize button and if they want it windowed, they're not likely to try to maximize it.

Out of interest, is it possible to change the function of the maximize button or is that more of a windows issue than Ren'Py?
For instance, re-configuring the maximize button to Fullscreen the game rather than simply make it fit the desktop?

Just a bit of blue sky thinking...
