I have a video at the end of the game demo that needs to play, but all that's currently showing is a black screen before the game returns to the menu.
Here's the code:
Code: Select all
stop music fadeout 1.0
show bg splash with dissolve
$ renpy.pause(5.0)
scene black
$ renpy.movie_cutscene("images/Video/AMBWPV_FINAL_3.mp4", 105.0)
$ renpy.pause(2.5)
return
I figure I'm doing something wrong since I got another video to play for the splashcreen before the main menu.
Thanks for reading!

Isn't the problem in your video itself? mp4 is currently a bad choice. WebM and ogg video are working better.

I figured since my other mp4 was working this one would as well.
Sadly, it seems that if we encode it in other options, quality will tank.
Suggestions?

Maybe I'm wrong but from time to time I see videos with glitches (frame errors) at the beginning or within videos. At these glitches, some media players doesn't work correctly and you can see black screen instead of the video.
Can you verify if your media is clean? Can you set to play after the 0.5 seconds of the video? (If not on renpy, try to copy the video but remove the first milliseconds)

And also remembering thar Ren'Py requires a video with a soundtrack, even if it's a silent soundtrack.
